2026 Film Review: DL/EDGE Breakout Candidates for 2025

<p>During the off-season, we have conducted an extensive film review of hundreds of prospects in the Natural State. This article will focus on potential breakout defensive linemen and edge prospects in the class of 2026. Here are five pass rushers/run maulers who I believe will demonstrate their skills in 2024:</p>    <p class="text-gray-700">[player_tooltip player_id='1304468' first='Joey' last='Bartlett'] is a player to watch throughout 2025. He just came off a visit with Arkansas-Monticello. He can play as a defensive lineman between the 3 and 7-techs off the edge.</p>   <p>Bartlett plays with a sideline-to-sideline motor both against the run and in passing situations, pursuing ball carriers from behind and generating pressure and sacks. He possesses the size and quickness to succeed at the next level.</p>   <p class="text-gray-700">Pirtle displays a solid upfield burst off the snap, utilizing solid hand placement to quickly shed and make plays at the LOS or in the backfield. He has a high motor and consistently presses the pocket or chases down ball carriers. He's a lengthy defender who plays sideline-to-sideline. </p>   <p>Sims displays a high motor, enabling him to read and react off the edge and immediately chase down ball carriers from the backside. He utilizes his length and quickness to create leverage, read the backfield, and shed off base blocks to make a play at the LOS in the backfield. He is technically sound, will play to his assignments, and will create havoc between the 0-3 technique.</p>   <p class="text-gray-700">He displays solid quickness off the line of scrimmage, demonstrating good use of hands to create leverage and quickly disengage from blocks, allowing him to make plays in the backfield. Those traits allow him to get underneath base blocks and key the backfield. Dye demonstrates strong upper and lower body strength to push the offensive line back into the pocket. His ideal positions are between the 0 and 3 tech. He displays a solid burst off the line at the snap, using solid pad level, hand placement, and active feet to bull rush the offensive lineman into the pocket and generate pressure.
