Park of Cottage Grove Top Prospects: Part Two

As I was evaluating some of the hyper-talented prospects across the Park of Cottage Grove roster, I found a litany of athletes that were equally deserving of shoutouts, so I decided to make a second part! Here are 9 more Park of Cottage Grove studs who could make an impact next season!    A built defensive line prospect who totaled 24 total tackles and 1 TFL in eight games last season, Museus looks to become a staple of the Mustangs front four this fall. Primarily lining up with his hand in the dirt at or near the edge, Museus is a run-stopping threat against dominant ground and pound offenses. He does a solid job of using his extended arms to keep offensive linemen at bay. Museus showcases his athleticism when standing up, where he's able to disrupt read-option plays or make quick tackles near the LOS. He looks like a high-ceiling prospect who could shine during his senior season.     A receiver, punter, and kicker, Kamande is going to continue to be a Swiss-army-knife next year for the Wolfpack. He caught 10 passes for 182 yards and 2 TDs, punted 22 times for 778 yards, and went 5/6 on FGs and 20/22 on XPs. Perhaps he most impressively went 2-2 on FGs from 30-49 yards. As a receiver, Kamande functions as a dangerous utility guy who can hurt defenses in a variety of ways. Combined with notable speed and soft hands, Kamande can be a problem, especially when you get him in open space. I look forward to another productive season from the multi-faceted athlete.     A JV TE who is looking to make the jump to varsity ahead of his senior year, McAllister has some pretty promising tape from his junior campaign. He made a couple of solid catches in traffic and moved surprisingly quickly with the rock in his hands. If McAllister goes hard in the weight room this off-season, I could see him finding a valuable niche inside of the Wolfpacks' typically high-flying offense.     Hayes is a talented and versatile linebacker who evolved into a very productive starter for the Mustangs throughout last season, all while bouncing around the field. During his junior year, he tallied 32 total tackles and a TFL in just 7 games. On his tape, Hayes shows off impressive speed and a quick first step, especially off of the LOS. He shoots out of the gates like a horse at Canterbury, and I love how aggressively he plays downhill while pursuing ball carriers. He stonewalls offensive athletes at the point of attack, and I'm super high on his ability to have an extremely productive senior year.     Aikens has not gotten nearly enough love following what was an insanely electric junior year. He did it all on both sides of the ball: 608 rushing yards, 9 rushing TDs, 6.1 ypc, 95 receiving yards, 42 total tackles, and a fumble recovery. On his tape, the first-team all-district member showcases both high-level speed and the ability to make quick jump cuts to hit holes. Aikens is an incredibly elusive runner and returns as one of 6A's top running backs. On the other side of the ball, Aikens is also extremely effective. The roving DB/LB is physical and breaks quickly to the ball. He's patient when tackling in the box and often plays gap sound defense. Aikens is an athlete I'm very high on going into 2025.     One of 6A's most productive pass rushers from last season returns in 2025, and the Wolfpacks' defense is much better for it. In 2024, Schmitzer recorded 30 total tackles, 7 TFLs, 5.0 Sacks, and a forced fumble in 8 games. Playing both standing up and with his hand in the dirt on the outside, Schmitzer boasts a handful of nasty moves that he uses to work through offensive linemen. A club, a speed rush, and a gross push-pull all allow him to create havoc in the backfield. When he sacks quarterbacks, it's for a tremendous loss. He's got game-influencing potential that I think could be on full display next year.     Fetter's another RB/WR gadget guy who could break into the varsity scene next season. As a running back, Fetter showcases solid vision, hits the hole quickly, and has surprising acceleration throughout the first level. He runs like he's 35 pounds bigger than he is, that is to say, hard. As a wideout, Fetter maintains his impressive pop out of his stance and has shown the ability to both stretch the field deep as well as reel in contested balls. I wouldn't be surprised if Fetter makes an impact next year, especially on special teams.     The presumed QB1 for the Wolfpack ahead of next season, Erickson saw some playing time in 4 games last season, and he's looking to build on that success in 2025. In those 4 games, he went 10/15 for 122 yards and an INT. Erickson's tape reveals an athlete with a solid arm talent while possessing some pocket mobility. His ball placement when he directs traffic downfield is stellar, often placed right where only the receiver can go up and get it. Erickson can scramble when the play devolves, but he does always look to get the ball downfield first. He's likely going to prove to be a 2027 QB to watch going forward.     A sophomore who saw some varsity action last season, Simmons managed to record 13 total tackles, 4 TFLs, and 2.0 sacks. On his tape, Simmons is a tenacious defensive lineman who doesn't give up on the play. He's got a great first-step off of the LOS, and his agility within the trenches hasn't ceased to amaze me. He's a difficult defender to move out of his gap as well. Simmons also has some tape on the other side of the ball. As an offensive lineman, he brings a similar tenacity with him. I'd like to see him play with more knee bend, but he does do a solid job of working to the second level and blocking in space.
