The LSWA has begun releasing its all-state basketball teams, including several names that should already look familiar to football fans.

There were four first- or second-team all-state hoops standouts in Louisiana's Class 1A lists — which were released Monday — who also boast notable backgrounds on the football field.

One of the top multisport athletes in the entire state helps kick off the run of all-state teams in a major way as Vital was announced Monday as the Outstanding Player on the LSWA's Class 1A all-state basketball team. The sophomore point guard helped lead the Warriors over the hump to their first-ever state championship with his season averages of 15.5 points, nine rebounds, seven assists and four steals per game, including a semifinal triple-double (16 points, 11 rebounds, 10 assists) that marked his sixth of the season. He also became the school's first-ever LSU football target last month when he receiver his offer at the Tigers' junior day.

[player_tooltip player_id='710080' first='Chad' last='Elzy'] Jr. — 5-10, 175 RB — Ascension Catholic (2025)

The Bulldogs' star is most known for being one of Louisiana's top running backs in a loaded 2025 class at the position before ultimately signing with Kentucky State this winter. And as of Monday, he officially followed up his all-state football selection with an all-state second-team selection in basketball after a senior season in which he averaged 16.8 points, 5.3 rebounds, 5.1 steals and 3.3 assists. Elzy was the District 8-1A MVP for Ascension Catholic, which earned the No. 6 seed in the Division-IV Select bracket before falling in the second round.

Benjamin Case — 6-1, 185 QB — Central Catholic (2025)

For the second straight year, the Eagles' southpaw quarterback earned an all-state selection for his performance on the basketball court. After a second-team selection as a junior, he was named to the Class 1A first team Monday as the District 7-1A MVP for the Division-IV Select quarterfinalists with his averages of 25.2 points, 6.1 rebounds and 5.1 assists per contest.

Joseph "Trey" Spann — 6-0 WR/ATH — Lincoln Prep (2026)

The Panthers' junior combo guard joined Vital and Case on the LSWA Class 1A all-state first team with his 19.8 points, six rebounds, three assists and three steals per game as a leader on a team that earned the No. 2 seed in the Division-IV Select bracket and reached at least the semifinals for the fourth straight year. Spann hasn't compiled any football highlights from this school year and may not have played as a junior, but showed some ability as a pass-catcher and two-way athlete as an underclassman.
