CCC Woodland: 2028 Standouts

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The 2028s who participated at the Carolinas Coaches Combines Woodland venue were a little less than a quarter of the players in the class who will attend this year's four sites.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>But if they were any indication, the future is very bright.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The youngest group able to take part in the combine didn't look like the relatively inexperienced bunch that it actually is. Instead, they moved and performed like vets.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The following 2028s helped lead that push.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1615105' first='Kermit' last='Davis']</strong> DL, Stratford</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A national scout on site for the combine wasn't the only one at Woodland wondering if Davis was really only a freshman. At 6-foot-2 (and change) and 210 pounds, the defensive end pumped out 20 reps on the bench despite his arm length (80-inch wingspan). He moved with ease in the drills even while suiting up against players with twice his varsity experience.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1467834' first='Jay' last='Eady']</strong> QB, Airport</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Eady clearly wasn't feeling any pressure. Granted, he was Airport's starting quarterback as a freshman, so he rolled that experience into Sunday, no doubt. His 20.94 mph ping and 4.66-second 40-yard time showed he's good runner. Combine that with his arm, and his dual-threat capabilities are only improving.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1010338' first='Cameron' last='Gleaton']</strong> TE, Midland Valley</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>At 6-foot-1 and 200 pounds, there was a reason we ranked Gleaton in the very first cycle for the 2028 class. The fact that he hit the second fastest miles per hour (22.54) of every player who attended Woodland was a pretty good indication that he's only just begun.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1061146' first='Teru' last='Davis']</strong> WR, Summerville</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Last fall at Goose Creek, he led the Gators in receptions (53), yards (764) and touchdowns (five). At Woodland, he continued to thrive. His official measurements (5-foot-11, 161 pounds, 72.5-inch wing span) were solid. He was measured at 20.57 miles per hour. And at 6-foot-2, 185 pounds and with a monster wingspan, Mitchell (pictured) should continue to excel after transferring from James Island to Berkeley.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1615021' first='Dexter' last='Chavous']</strong> DL, Silver Bluff</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Chavous got people talking moments after walking through the gates when his official measurements were taken and the 6-foot-1.5, 330-pound defensive tackle looked like he was in midseason shape. Chavous is going to be a menace for opposing linemen for a long, long time. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1672924' first='Kendall' last='Wright']</strong> QB, Swansea</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Swansea attempted 106 passes over the course of the 2024 season. As coach Willie Fox put it, Wright gives the Tigers more reason to open things up moving forward. On Sunday, Wright was the surprise of the small number of quarterbacks from the 2028 class.
