The Prep Redzone Sunshine Classic 7-on-7 tournament kicked off with a bang, and the 14U division (the youngest group in the tournament) did not disappoint. Day one was packed with highlight plays, jaw-dropping athleticism, and a few young stars who looked like they belonged under the Friday night lights already. You could feel the energy from the sidelines — coaches locked in, parents living and dying with every catch, and players battling like there was a championship on the line. But through all the chaos and competition, a handful of guys made it impossible to ignore them. Let's take a look at the standouts from day one of the Sunshine Classic's 14U action.

Class of 2030

Aydan Steen wasted no time making his presence known, snagging a ridiculously smooth one-handed interception early in the day that turned heads from every direction. His size alone makes him stand out, looking every bit the part of a future star. And while he might not have been the absolute fastest player on the field, his movement was effortless — never clunky, never out of control. He covered ground with ease and read plays really well. Some guys just have that natural feel for the game, and Steen put it on full display in day one of the action.

Aydan Steen — C/O 2030 — with this one-handed INT! 😱🤯 https://t.co/REq0gSuO4d pic.twitter.com/LsFJLUCqgN
— Hunter Tierney (@thehonestupdate) February 8, 2025

Even before he took a single rep, you could tell Payton Guess was a high-level athlete. He's got that natural confidence and movement that just screams playmaker. As a quarterback, he throws an incredibly catchable deep ball — lots of arc, smooth release, and smart decision-making to go with it. But what really stood out was his footwork. His feet never stop moving, and he's got that quick, efficient movement that allows him to reset and deliver from any angle. His overall athleticism shined on both sides of the ball, doubling as a defensive back where he showed impressive closing speed and awareness. It's no surprise he's a three-sport athlete — it shows in his versatility, and he made an impact in every way possible.

Peyton Guess (C/O 2030) with a well-timed dart over the middle! pic.twitter.com/7ZBbOugBTx
— Hunter Tierney (@thehonestupdate) February 9, 2025

[player_tooltip player_id='1623585' first='Zane' last='Nunez'] put up some jaw-dropping numbers, throwing for 12 touchdowns on the day. His throwing motion is a bit elongated, with a few extra movements that could be cleaned up over time, but none of that stopped him from getting the ball exactly where it needed to be. His mechanics have room for refinement, but his decision-making and overall efficiency were undeniable. He played with confidence, showed poise under pressure, and consistently found ways to get his team in the end zone. On a day where big plays were everywhere, Nunez stood out as a quarterback who just knows how to get the job done.

[player_tooltip player_id='1623585' first='Zane' last='Nunez'] (C/O 2030) hits on a deep ball pic.twitter.com/TPuNoSg1sK
— Hunter Tierney (@thehonestupdate) February 9, 2025

Class of 2029

Keyoni Zeigler is the kind of receiver that keeps defensive backs up at night. His crisp route running allows him to create separation with ease, and once the ball is in anywhere near him, you can pretty much count on him bringing it in. His reliable hands and natural ability to find open space made him stand out all day. His strong base gave him plenty of power behind his throws when his feet were set, allowing him to drive the ball with confidence. While there were a few decisions he'd likely want back, his immediate recognition of those mistakes speaks volumes about his coachability and willingness to adjust on the fly. With a really solid foundation, if he keeps fine-tuning his game, he's only going to get tougher to stop.

Class of 2028

Jayden Zorns made his presence felt in more ways than one. His footwork was on full display, showing off quick, crisp movements that allowed him to stay balanced and ready at all times. But what really stood out was his leadership — he wasn't just viewed as a leader by his teammates, he embraced that role. Whether it was through his play or his words, he stepped up and set the tone. His reliable hands and quick feet made him a tough cover, and his ability to make plays when it mattered most made him impossible to ignore. Zorns proved to be a difference-maker, and it's easy to see why he's such a highly regarded athlete.

https://www.instagram.com/reel/DF1WBG5SVtV
