Arkansas High School Football Spring Watchlist: 2026 EDGE

<p>Off-season training and weight room activities are active. Spring football and college camps are approaching. This report evaluates their 2024 season and current off-season development, highlighting six edge rushers from the class of 2026 to watch this spring.</p>    <p class="text-gray-700">[player_tooltip player_id='1554630' first='Matthew' last='Nelson'] is on the rise and has been excelling in recruitment recently. His length and athletic ability are impressive, and he also demonstrates the ability to contain the edge. Nelson plays sideline-to-sideline, showcasing his relentless motor to the football. He displays good upfield burst off the snap, often creating pressure into the pocket. He demonstrates good full-body power off the snap, combined with good foot quickness and hand placement to create leverage. This is enhanced by a rip move and good pad level, which enable him to quickly penetrate the backfield. Cubit showcases a strong lower body and the reach necessary to overpower the offensive line, driving the OL back into the pocket to generate pressure. His ability to outmaneuver the offensive line almost immediately after the snap, whether against the run or pass, is particularly noteworthy. His solid pad level, lower body strength, and active feet enable him to generate pressure on every play.
