The 60 Tackle Club: Spotlight On 2027 Defenders

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The 2027 Kansas Class is deep with prospects who made a difference in varsity games last fall.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>This is the fifth report highlighting tackle leaders from the Class of 2027. It includes six prospects who finished with at least 60 tackles during their sophomore seasons.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>This is not an all-inclusive list as some schools do not post stats publicly. Stats for this report were found on Max Preps. Also, I did not include athletes with missing information on their Max Prep profiles.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>This group includes three ranked prospects and three unranked prospects. He finished his sophomore season with 65 tackles. The Council Grove prospect recorded 12.5 tackles for lost yardage, four quarterback sacks, and one interception.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1597337' first='Logan' last='Abbott'],</strong> DB/WR, 5'9”, 135, Baxter Springs, ‘27</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Abbott is currently an unranked prospect. He collected 63 tackles as a sophomore for the Lions. Three of his tackles were for loss.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1597339' first='Nathan' last='McClung'],</strong> LB, 5'8”, 175, Christ Prep Academy, ‘27</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>McClung recorded a 62-tackle season for the Patriots. He registered two quarterback sacks, forced two fumbles, recovered three fumbles, and made two interceptions in 11 games. He is currently an unranked prospect by Prep Redzone Kansas.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1113258' first='Logan' last='Turner'],</strong> LB, 5'11”, 160, Burlington, ‘27</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Turner is ranked No. 85 overall in the Kansas Class of 2027. He finished his sophomore campaign with 61 tackles in nine games. He has back-to-back seasons of 60-plus tackles as he also recorded 61 as a freshman in seven games. It was his first season seeing significant varsity time as he played in just two games as a freshman. He finished with four TFLs and is currently unranked.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1530415' first='Caleb' last='Strong'],</strong> DB/RB, 6'0”, 163, Pratt ‘27</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Strong is currently ranked No. 206 overall by Prep Redzone Kansas. He recorded 60 tackles in nine games for the Greenbacks. He gained 246 yards rushing and made seven receptions for 99 yards.
