On tape, he shows he is a bruising runner with forward lean and good leg drive through contact and does not go down on initial contact while seemingly always falling forward. Ward does a good job following his blockers in tight windows it looks for contact in the hole while able to cutback and flashes third level breakaway speed in the clear. He is an explosive runner with a quick burst, short area wiggle and can make defenders miss in the hole while showing outstanding tackle breaking abilities, contact balance when bouncing off tacklers and does a nice job always falling forward after contact. On film, he shows he is a very physical ball carrier that gets downhill quickly, runs behind his pads and shows contact balance in the open field while tough to bring down in one on one situations. Lambert also displays natural pass catching abilities out of the backfield and can get up-field quickly and has third level speed with good open field vision as well.
