We're through eight weeks of the 2024 high school football season and plenty of 2027 prospects (sophomores) have made a difference with their significant contributions. Here are some of the top 2027 prospects on offense:

[player_tooltip player_id='1369761' first='William' last='Braun'], Albuquerque Academy: Per MaxPreps, He leads all sophomore quarterbacks in passing yards with 1,588 as he completed 59.0 percent of his passes (98-166).

[player_tooltip player_id='1154948' first='Isaiah' last='Carpenter'], St. Pius X: He leads all sophomore quarterbacks in pass completions (110), pass attempts (201) and TD passes (15). Possesses great size at 6-foot-5.

[player_tooltip player_id='853757' first='Ulisses' last='Castro'], Bernalillo: One of the top two-way sophomore players in the state. As a WR, he has 24 receptions for 375 yards and 4 TD. On defense, he has 32 tackles, 7.0 TFL, 6.0 sacks and 4 QB hurries.

[player_tooltip player_id='1154956' first='Cayl' last='Cox-Liggins'], St. Pius X: One of three Sartans on this list, Cox-Liggins is a 6-foot-3 WR with fantastic hands and body control. He leads all sophomore WRs with 518 receiving yards and 6 TD on 28 receptions.

Gabe Gonzales, Valley: He leads all sophomore receivers with 30 receptions for the Vikings and his 469 receiving yards is second only to Cox-Liggins.

[player_tooltip player_id='1155032' first='CJ' last='Granados'], Dexter: Arguably the top sophomore dual threat QB in the state. He has led Dexter to a perfect 8-0 record by throwing for over 1,000 yards and 11 TD with just one interception while rushing for nearly 350 yards.

[player_tooltip player_id='1604744' first='Jordan' last='Herrera'], Los Alamos: The Hilltoppers started 0-3 but have won four games in a row and are now a strong contender to win District 5A-1. What happened? They started giving the ball to Herrera. He's averaged 171.5 yards on the ground over the last 4 games, rushing for 200+ yards twice.

[player_tooltip player_id='1154954' first='Hershul' last='Olloway'], St. Pius X: We first talked about Olloway after his impressive showing at the Prep Redzone Combine in Grants last April. Olloway has lived up to his billing by rushing for close to 1,000 yards and 13 TD with three regular season games remaining.

[player_tooltip player_id='1605033' first='Dailen' last='Ramirez'], Centennial: Ramirez has quietly become an integral component of Centennial's powerful rushing attack. Through 7 games, he has 317 rushing yards (77 against Rio Rancho) and 7 TD. Definitely a name to watch for the future.

[player_tooltip player_id='1604705' first='Micah' last='Takahashi'], Rio Rancho: Definitely the leader for Breakout Player of the Year. Takahashi was thought to be the Rams' QB of the Future but he's proving the future is now. He's a dynamic dual threat signal caller with plenty of speed and skill. He's passed for 603 yards and 8 TD while rushing for 643 yards and 8 TD with 4 100+ rushing games. With three games remaining, he could join the prestigious 1,000-1,000 club.
