Maryland 2026 LB Prospects: New Names to Know

Prep Redzone brings you six new names to know at the linebacker position in Maryland's class of 2026 recruiting class. These players have a good shot at being ranked during the offseason.    Hall has established himself as the top tackler in the state of Maryland, per MaxPreps stats, so far this season. In nine games, he racked up 113 total tackles (65 solo, 11 TFL). In his last seven games, he's averaged 12-plus tackles per game.   Hall lines up at the inside linebacker position for his defense. Judging by his numbers, he's a consistent presence on defense. Judging by his film, he's able to quickly read offensive plays and make stops either behind the line of scrimmage or near the line of scrimmage. There's a few plays that showcase him tackling with good technique, wrapping up, and driving through ball-carriers. He even has a few plays of him in zone coverage, including one where he makes an interception. Based on his X (formerly known as Twitter) profile, he is currently 5-foot-9, 200 pounds.      Mosier is credited with 90 total tackles (3 TFL) in nine games this season. He has five games where he made 10-plus tackles in. I had an opportunity to watch him earlier this year against McDonogh (9/21, nine tackles). He has a nice combination of instincts, agility, blitzing ability, and closing burst out of all of the linebackers in this article.   I'm impressed with how quickly he covers ground and is able to close the distance to make tackles in the open field. He's a true sideline-to-sideline backer who plays with high effort. Mosier is an easy candidate to be ranked sooner than later.      In eight games, Thomas has made 94 total tackles (66 solo and 10 TFL's. He's also intercepted once pass, caused three fumbles and recovered two of them. Thomas patrols the defense from his outside linebacker position. He has some of the best highlights for a linebacker in pass coverage that I've seen so far. He can cover a good amount of space in zone coverage and makes a few plays in his highlights that include an interception, hard hit, and a forced fumble).   Thomas is also an effective pass and run blitzer, utilizes a quick first step to beat any would-be blockers. A disruptor that makes a lot of plays behind the line of scrimmage. Another solid candidate to get ranked in the near future.      Dixon has made 72 tackles (20 solo, 5 TFL) in his first eight games of the season. He also has four sacks and five quarterback hurries. From a highlights standpoint, I would recommend that he takes out the slow-motion on the play at the 30-second mark. That play along lasts 30 seconds, which is way too long.   He is an inside linebacker who plays with good pre-snap recognition of plays. Dixon is a solid tackler, but I think his film would stand out even more if there were more plays of him running through ball carriers while tackling them. Has decent scrape quickness to beat blockers to the spot.      Floyd has earned his status as being designated as an athlete (for now) due to his production at both the running back and linebacker positions. For this article, we will concentrate on his performance as a linebacker. So far this season, in eight games, Floyd has made 69 total tackles (32 solo, 6 TFL). Most of his highlights are of him on offense, but he also has potential on the defensive side of the football. Floyd looks more fluid coming downhill as a backer and is a sure tackler. He will also get evaluated as a running back at some point.      Sands has made 68 total tackles (47 solo) in his seven games this season. His first play shows him getting a pick-six from his outside linebacker position. Sands is one of the more versatile linebackers on this list due to his ability to impact the game as a run defender, pass defender, and pass rusher. He gets downhill fast and disrupts blocking. He has the range to track down ball carriers sideline to sideline. He does an excellent job of setting the edge, routinely keeping containment, and making plays.
