Film Room: Hidden Gem Wide Receivers

The prospects featured in this piece range from sophomores to seniors and not one has a single division one offer. I believe each prospect has a future at the next level, some at the division one level, while others could be a level or two below. He can separate at the top of routes, he's got excellent balance with the ball in his hands and has some physicality as a runner. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><em>Jake Roberts, 6'1" 185, McKinney Boyd, 2025</em></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Roberts has the quickness and hand-fighting ability to defeat press coverage, he's strong after the catch and has plenty of speed to run away from the defense. He's got the wiggle to make defenders miss and can contort his body into awkward positions to make tough catches. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><em>Timothy Boatner, 5'8" 160, Killeen, 2025</em></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Boatner consistently sneaks behind coverage, he's a violent runner that is tough to bring down and has the hands &amp; speed to track deep shot throws over the shoulder. He can go up and highpoint the football, he can step on a corner's toes, get him to open his hips then shut it down in space for easy yardage. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><em>Bryson Brown, 6" 165, Amarillo, 2025</em></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>An explosive kick returner that can take it ninety yards to the house, he's slippery in space and can flat-out fly as a route runner. He knows how to set up defenders to get their weight on the wrong leg, he's twitchy at the top of routes and can toe-tap to make tough catches on the sideline. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><em>Tyler Seith, 6'1" 170, Midway, 2026</em></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A productive prospect that may not be a burner, but finds ways to get open and will generate yards after the catch. He's tough, surehanded, and is fearless venturing into the teeth of a defense. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><em>Colt Lozano, 5'10" 160, United, 2027</em></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A highly tooled route runner with some nasty double moves in his back pocket. Colt may be undersized, but he makes up for it with crafty route running, quickness, and hands like glue. He's got a a big catch radius for a smaller receiver, he knows how to find the soft spots in zone coverage, and is rarely brought down by the first tackler. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><em>Zak Cosser, 5'10" 155, College Station, 2026</em></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Zak uses a stem to beat corners with inside leverage, he plucks the football out of the air and knows how to throw defenders by with a chicken wing at the top of routes. He's shown some deception on routes, he'll lean on defenders to generate separation, and shows strong hands through contact. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
