We take a look at 3 teams that have had a good start to the 2024 season and with another win under their belt could break into the AJC Top 10 in 6A.

--North Cobb Warriors (2-0)

The offense is purring for the Warriors through the first two weeks of the season. North Cobb is averaging 47 points a game in their wins over two quality opponents, Archer (49-21) and McEachern (45-33).

They have 2 big games coming up in September going to #6 (4A) Cass on September 6 then traveling to #8 (6A) Walton on Sept. 20th. If the Warriors can pull the road upsets they would be looking at a potential 10-0 finish in the regular season.

Prospects:

[player_tooltip player_id='1313944' first='Kamron' last='Cullins'] (6'4 270) : The 3-Star 2025 DL committed to Georgia Tech in June. Cullins is an aggressive pass rusher that has the strength and footwork to shed blocks at the LOS. Violent tackler that always has his motor in high gear. Ranked as the #21 overall DL in the latest PRZN rankings and has seen his stock rise considerably over the past season. As he matures physically he will be a starter on the DL for the Yellow Jackets in the future.

[player_tooltip player_id='1318447' first='Dominick' last='Moody'] (6'2 260): Moody is another 2025 3-Star defensive lineman for the Warriors that committed to East Carolina early in the Summer. A long framed guy that carries 260 pounds well. Gets off the LOS quick and has the speed and quickness of a LB. Moody has a high football IQ with outstanding reaction time and gets himself in the right spot to make plays. Great upside at the next level.

Jason Grier (6'2 230): The 2025 TE/LB is a late bloomer on the recruiting trail and has started the 2024 season in breakout fashion. He recorded 17 TT (9 solo) with a sack and a TFL in the Warriors win over McEachern. Has the potential to be an outstanding edge rusher at the next level. Good reaction time and get off the ball speed at the LOS. Has the athleticism to pursue sideline to sideline and cover RBs on pass routes. He has really improved his tackling from last season and scouts have taken notice. He picked up offers from Austin Peay and UMass over the past week and if continues performing at this level more will come his way this Fall.

-- Richmond Hill Wildcats (1-0)

The Wildcats opened the season with a 31-12 win over Glynn Academy and will be hosting Everglades this Friday in their 1st of 2 showdowns verse opponents from Florida. Richmond Hill plays in maybe the toughest 6A Region in the State with the likes of powerhouse programs Camden, Valdosta, Colquitt and Lowndes. If the experienced Wildcats can pull a few upsets they will easily find themselves in the Top 10.

Prospects:

Joshua Troupe (5'11 210) The 2025 RB was named to the Most Underrated RB in South Ga list earlier this preseason and he showed why in the Wildcats season opener. Troupe rushed for 137 yards on 23 touches and scored a TD in the 31-12 win over Glynn Academy. A strong powerful back that is a good North South runner and is not afraid to lower his shoulder and run through defenders. Strong athlete with a solid build that has the physicalness to carry the ball 25-30 times a game. A steal for a program this recruiting cycle.

Caleb Easterling (5'9 175) The Senior ATH had a breakout season opener with 240 All purpose yards and scoring 3 TDs on just 5 touches. Easterling checks off all the metrics you want if you are a scout. He has a 3.7 GPA in the classroom and hit 21.4 mph game speed which placed him 4 fastest in the country for the week. Good lockdown DB in coverage and has the speed to make plays on the ball. He the athleticism to play any of the skill positions on either side of the ball.

-- Lowndes Vikings (2-0)

The Vikings have started the season out in dominate fashion with a 49-7 win over Jenkins and a 62-0 shutout over Mt Zion-Jonesboro. Lowndes is not only showing they should be considered for the Top 10 but that they are also a team capable of challenging for the Region Title and will be a threat in the post season.

Prospects

[player_tooltip player_id='481378' first='Jayce' last='Johnson'] (6'4 205) The 2027 QB/ATH has lived up to the hype early in 2024. The 8th grade All American had limited Varsity action last year for the Vikings but he has shown early why he will be one of the Top recruits in the 2027 class. The dual threat QB is 19 of 26 for 287 yards with 4 TDs with 0 INTs. He has added 11 carries for 71 yards and a TD with his legs. The All Around Athlete was LB MVP during his middle school years and would be a top recruit at that position if he played on that side of the ball. Handles punting duties for the Vikings where he averages 38 yards a punt. He hasn't popped up in the PRZN rankings yet but will not be surprised if he is not a Top 10 player in the 2027 class at seasons end.

[player_tooltip player_id='1552082' first='Marvis' last='Parrish'] (5'11 185): The 2025 ATH has had the opportunity to move into his natural position this season and it has shown early promise. He played QB in 2023 but seemed to be more of a RB playing that position. He has only carried the ball 10 times in the Vikings first two games but is averaging over 17 yards a carry with 4 TDs. He showed that he is still a threat with his arm throwing a 38 yards TD pass in the 49-7 win over Jenkins. One interesting early season stat, he has taken the opening hand off for a TD in both of the early season game, one from 80 and the other from 48. An outstanding athlete with a lot of varsity experience at the highest level. We will be watching Parrish closely this Fall.

Kaleb Barron (6'1 250) The Senior DE/DT is 3 year varsity starter and could help a program on both side of the line. Barron has started the 2024 well with 7 TT with 3 TFL and a sack in limited play with the starters being pulled for big leads. Agile big man that has a non stop motor and carries his weight well. Good quickness out of this stance and speed to pursue.
