Nine Louisiana prospects debut in top 50 of latest 2026 rankings

Prep Redzone Louisiana's latest 2026 rankings update dropped this past week, including several notable debuts starting as high as No. 9.   Here's a look at the nine prospects who joined the top 50 with their first rankings as their junior seasons approach.     No. 9 [player_tooltip player_id='1345158' first='Blaise' last='Thomassie'] — 6-5, 265 OL — Catholic (Baton Rouge)   The highest-debuting prospect in the latest round of 2026 rankings updates, Thomassie is already a starting to gain major recruiting steam from a handful of power-conference programs around the country, including Oregon, Florida State and Arkansas.   No. 38 [player_tooltip player_id='1345161' first='Hayden' last='Ray'] — 6-2, 245 TE — Live Oak   Louisiana's solid run of tight ends in recent cycles looks poised to continue in 2026, including the the Eagles' physical, versatile standout whose ball skills, route-running and notable leap for his size make him a good weapon in the passing game.   No. 39 [player_tooltip player_id='1345269' first='Luke' last='Green'] — 6-1, 170 DB — Lafayette Christian   The Knights' safety should be one of the notable breakout candidates to watch this season in the Lafayette area with his anticipation and explosive break on the ball when playing the back end of the defense and willing physicality coming downhill into the box or backfield.   No. 41 [player_tooltip player_id='1345265' first='Will' last='Berry'] — 6-4, 240 DL — Jesuit   We've seen more thus of the Blue Jays' talented multisport standout on the baseball diamond, but the tall, long and physical defensive end looks to be a promising prospect on the football field, including recently earning his first two offers from Cornell and Nicholls State.   No. 44 [player_tooltip player_id='1347446' first='Demarcus' last='King Jr.'] — 6-4, 215 DL — Benton   The debut of the long, lean edge-rusher gives the Tigers a top-50 prospect in each of the 2025, 2026 and 2027 class rankings. King had a productive sophomore season with 77 tackles, including 11 for loss and four sacks, and followed up with solid camp showings this summer.   No. 45 [player_tooltip player_id='1345278' first='Tadan' last='Bingham'] — 6-4, 280 OL — Terrebonne   Both the Tigers' 2026 offensive tackles are now ranked in the top 50 with the debut of the younger brother of 2024 defensive tackle Talan Bingham, with a similar physicality and tenaciousness to his game.   No. 47 [player_tooltip player_id='1345167' first='Kenny' last='Thomas'] — 5-8, 160 RB — North DeSoto   Thomas racked up nearly 1,500 yards this past fall, then followed up his breakout sophomore campaign with strong summer camp showings that included consistently verified 4.4-second 40-yard speed.   No. 48 [player_tooltip player_id='1347485' first='Lorenzo' last='Cooper Jr.'] — 6-0, 170 DB — University Lab   and No. 50 [player_tooltip player_id='1197420' first='Erin' last='Moore'] — 5-10, 160 DB — University Lab   The Cubs' teammates debuted this week, giving the team four defensive backs ranked in top 50 of their respective classes (soon to be five with the next round of 2027 updates). The speedy rising junior duo — whose film thus far has been intriguing, but limited — will be two of the Baton Rouge area's notable prospects to watch this fall in bigger roles.
