July 2024: Arkansas Prospects on the Rise

<p>July marks the beginning of training camps for high schools nationwide, a time for development, competition, and intense effort. Next month, pre-season starts as the anticipation builds for the fast-approaching season. Let's focus on some key rising prospects to watch in the 2024 season. </p>    <p class="text-gray-700">[player_tooltip player_id='1333873' first='Peyton' last='Thompson'] has had a strong summer of camps, securing his first college offer from Arkansas Tech. Thompson displays good initial quickness off the line of scrimmage, quickly getting into his pass sets. He demonstrates good hand placement and timing to create leverage or swipe of punches and contact from pass rushers. Strong anchor due to good lower body and core strength with balance to control defenders. Explodes off the line of scrimmage with good foot quickness. He demonstrates good hand placement, hand strength, and well-timed punches to throw off defenders and create leverage, driving them back or displacing. His initial quickness enables him to angle correctly on reach/zone blocks, consistently pancaking opponents. Hatcher is agile with a good feel in zone coverage, effectively securing underneath and communicating with his teammates on defense. Against the run, he works sideline to sideline, diagnosing plays, staying square, shedding blockers, and quickly making stops in the backfield or at the line of scrimmage. Hill has been shutting down opposing wide receivers all summer since his transfer to Little Rock Central. His athleticism and change of direction enable him to transition quickly and get vertical with the wide receiver or stay inside the hip pocket on a break without allowing any room for separation. Has solid recovery speed coupled with notable ball skills and good use of hands. Good read-and-react skills, highlighted by his change of direction and acceleration, enabling him to attack downhill vs the run or arrive at the catch point to disrupt the pass, force a PBU or INT. With his strong bull rush, he can pressure the pocket, leveraging his good lower body strength and length.
