Region V-A should be a wide open, exciting region to keep an eye on. Teams will play six region games so they will be one of the first in the state to start playing games for playoff seedings. I's a deep and talented region that has plenty of two-way players.

Here is a look at the players we think can build on a successful 2023 campaign and give their teams the best hope in 2024.

BAPTIST HILL BOBCATS

[player_tooltip player_id='1254034' first='Romaine' last='Grant'] WR, 2025

Grant totaled over 1,000 receiving yards last season and 13 touchdowns. He averaged over 141 yards of all-purpose yards per game as well. Grant loses his quarterback from 2023 but he remains one of the top returning targets in the state. The 2025 Class is deep at receiver, but Grant will not get lost in the shuffle. His speed is above average, and he can go get the ball.

BETHUNE-BOWMAN MOHAWKS

[player_tooltip player_id='1691901' first='Maurice' last='Dawson'] WR/DB, 2027

The Mohawks had three receivers invited to the Carolina Coaches Combine and Dawson might be the biggest big-play threat. He's not the biggest wide out but he still is developing. He plays soccer for the Mohawks, so his motor never stops. He has another gear with the ball in his hands. He will also play defensive back, where he shows good feet and ability to close quickly.

BRANCHVILLE YELLOW JACKETS

[player_tooltip player_id='1360001' first='Khasean' last='Saldano'] OL/DL, 2025

Saldano is a run stuffing freak on the defensive line with his 6-foot, 355-pound frame. He had an 80-inch wingspan at the Carolinas Coaches Combine. He's almost impossible to move on the defensive front but his more impressive highlights come on the offensive side of the ball. He's powerful and strong as a straight-ahead blocker. But he's agile enough to pull and get to the corner to lead a sweep play.

CROSS TROJANS

[player_tooltip player_id='473021' first='Caden' last='Ramsey'] WR/DB, 2026

When you talk about a player with all the intangibles, you just might see a photo of Ramsey. The scary part is the 6-foot-5, 195-pounder is really just starting to pull it all together. He can be a lethal receiver, or he can step on the other side of the ball and be a lockdown defender. He's gotten stronger and quicker so that could spell doom for the Trojans opponents in 2024.

MILITARY MAGNET EAGLES

Jaylen Waters RB, 2025

Waters is a game-breaker that will just as soon run past a defender as through him. His best highlights show him making guys miss as well as running through them. Waters has great hands and can be utilized in the passing game. He also features a mean stiff arm that keeps defenders off him. Waters will be a main clog to the Eagles 2024 attack.

SCOTT'S BRANCH EAGLES

Dresean Blanding LB, 2025

The Eagles limped home to an 0-10 record last season, but it wasn't because of the play of Blanding. He's still a little on the raw side but he produces over seven tackles per game from his linebacker/defensive end position. He fills gaps quickly and doesn't mind playing to contact. He will also help on the offensive side of the ball.

ST. JOHN'S ISLANDERS

Travone McFadden QB/FS, 2025

McFadden does a lot of things for the Islanders. His main role is quarterback and free safety, but he will also return kicks, play some receiver and is the long snapper. His biggest impact might come at quarterback. He can extend plays with his legs and make something happen when things look lost. He is a big hitter on defense and makes plenty of tackles from his safety spot.
