Region II-1A will have some changes as Lewisville, Great Falls, CA Johnson and Lee Central all moved from region III-1A, and that will make for some interesting competition heading into 2024. With a dynamic dual threat quarterback, an athlete who we expect to make an impact on both sides of the ball, there is no shortage of talent in this region.

Here are our picks for team MVPs in region II-1A:

C.A. JOHNSON HORNETS

Anthony Brooks ATH, 2025

Brooks was all over the place in 2023 for the Hornets. And he was productive wherever he was on the field. He could take jet sweeps at receiver and turn it into 10 to 15 yard gains up field or he could be a deep vertical threat downfield and run right past defensive backs for six points. He has great speed on the outside once he gets into the open field. Speaking of defensive back, he can make plays there. He is excellent in run support in being able to recognize the play and get into the backfield, where it's normally a loss of yards on the play he gets in on. He ran for 202 yards rushing and 3 touchdowns. He also caught 12 balls for 282 yards and 3 touchdowns last year.

GREAT FALLS RED DEVILS

Tykedron Bell WR, 2025

Bell played a vital role for the Red Devils in 2023. Now under new coach Syvelle Newton, we expect that to continue in 2024. He had 15 receptions for 212 yards and two touchdowns, while running for 80 yards on 15 carries. He also had five tackles on defense last year as well.

No film available

LAMAR SILVER FOXES

[player_tooltip player_id='1165108' first='Zori' last='Pierce'] QB, 2025

Pierce is a dynamic playmaker with the ball in his hands. When he gets the ball on the zone read, look out because it could be six points. He has breakaway speed to elude defenders and outrun them when he finds the open grass. And the touch on his throws is fun to watch as well. He can dump it off on a quick shallow or go up top on a corner route and let the receivers do the rest. He threw for 1447 yards and 19 touchdowns while rushing for 355 yards in 2023.

LEE CENTRAL STALLIONS

Ja'quarius Davis QB, 2025

Davis is a slippery and quick athlete when he has the ball. The scheme that the Stallions run offensively fits his skill set perfectly and allows him to just go out and find the green grass and make things happen. Once he finds an opening, it's usually a huge gain or a touchdown. Even when you think you have him bottled up for a tackle, he can find a way to get himself out of trouble and make the most out of it, like we saw on his film.

LEWISVILLE LIONS

[player_tooltip player_id='1249747' first='Zach' last='Rogers'] ATH, 2025

Rogers (pictured above) will undeniably be one of the leaders for the Lions under new coach Trent Usher in 2024. He is a difference maker all over the field, whether it's making big hits on defense and closing out run lanes from his safety spot or on the offensive side of the ball, where he can make a difference in the run game with his athletic ability. We got to see Rogers up close during spring practice last month and it's easy to see why.

MCBEE PANTHERS

[player_tooltip player_id='1254038' first='Devarius' last='Ponds'] RB, 2025

Ponds is fun to watch with the ball in his hands. We were impressed with watching him on runs specifically to the outside. He has good vision to find the green grass along with a combo of speed and power to move past defenders. Arm tackles won't work against him as he showed an ability to break tackles. He finished with 11 touchdowns, 824 yards averaging 10.6 yards per carry. He had four games over 100 yards in 2023 as well.
