Here are notes on six unranked players defensive prospects who caught Prep Redzone Louisiana's attention during June and will join their respective class lists during the upcoming preseason rankings update process.

[player_tooltip player_id='1336724' first='Keon' last='Coverson'] — 5-11, 175 DB/ATH — Central (Baton Rouge) (2025)

The rising senior nickel/safety, with background on both sides of the ball, showed great instincts, timing and ball skills throughout the month's high-school 7-on-7 action with multiple interceptions and a several more pass breakups.

Zakarri Hogan — 5-9, 160 DB — Zachary (2026)

The smaller, but quick and instinctive ballhawk was a player of whom we'd seen some highlights this past year at Madison Prep, but had a chance to watch more consistently at a recent high school 7-on-7 session at his new school. And Hogan covered a lot of ground in a hurry on the back end of the Broncos' defense, including multiple nice breaks and deflections against good competition.

[player_tooltip player_id='1372176' first='Trey' last='McDaniel'] — 6-0, 160 DB/ATH Calvary Baptist (2028)

The Cavaliers graduated several talented, experienced leaders from their stingy, state-championship secondary this year, and among the new faces working to fill those big shoes is a young, but promising freshman who stood out at the recent Louisiana (Lafayette) 7-on-7 tournament with his height, length and timing on late deflections of passes his direction near the goal line.

[player_tooltip player_id='1240838' first='Jamichael' last='Quinn'] — 5-10, 200 LB/DB — Edna Karr (2027)

The Cougars' rising sophomore safety/linebacker provided one of the defensive highlights of the recent Louisiana (Lafayette) 7-on-7 tournament with a leaping interception that helped seal a victory in a competitive pool-play game against St. Thomas More. The Edna Karr defense is loaded with notable talent and experience at every level, and Quinn looks to be among a few younger prospects who have a chance to earn a role alongside the veterans.

Terrance Smith — 5-11, 190 DB — Scotlandville (2025)

Another defensive player with one of the top highlights of a recent 7-on-7 session, Smith snatched an interception Wednesday from host Zachary to help provide his Hornets one of their biggest sparks of the matchup.

[player_tooltip player_id='1356115' first='Khylin' last='Wilson'] — 6-0, 175 DB — St. Augustine (2027)

The rising sophomore safety/nickel was among the Purple Knights' defensive backs who seemed to be consistently well-positioned and well-timed to break up passes his direction throughout the Ragin' Cajuns' recent 7-on-7 tournament in Lafayette.
