Our fourth spring tour stop features notable head coach Ed Johnson and the Newberry Panthers who finished 9-3 last season but return a number of college prospects who have a chance to make some noise in the 863. Prep Redzone scout Drew Johnson will turn to his backyard to attend one of the first week’s spring practice.
Jarquez Carter Jarquez Carter 6'3" | DL Newberry | 2025 State FL | 2025 | DT | Newberry | @JarquezCarter
Carter has emerged as one of the premier defensive tackle prospects in the class of 2025 since landing as a top standout in the Prep Redzone Showcase in Bradenton, FL a couple of years ago. Carter can set the edge really well for a player of his stature and be an anchor in the tackle spot. He continues to develop and will be one of the top names in the area before his commitment.
Mykah Newton Mykah Newton 6'3" | 240 lbs | DL Newberry | 2025 State FL | 2025 | Newberry | @MykahNewton1
Newton has dominated the offseason circuit since the Prep Redzone Showcase a while ago. Newton is a big presence with great length at 6-foot-3 and has added a lot more muscle to his frame. He is a technician with his hands and understands pad leverage. Newton will be another top prospect in the area by his senior season.
Logan Mccloud Logan Mccloud 6'2" | DL Newberry | 2025 FL | 2025 | Newberry | @theloganmccloud
McCloud continues to develop his overall game this offseason and is set to be one of the interesting prospects on the Newberry big three. McCloud is a versatile athlete who can play multiple positions on the defensive side because of his athleticism and agility skills. He’s a dynamic playmaker who finished third on Newberry’s defense in tackles for loss and I expect his recruitment to begin shaking up heading into the off-season.
Kaleb Woods | 2026 | RB | Newberry | @Thekalebwoods
Always good to get eyes on one of the better producers in the area as Woods has a solid frame for the running back position that he can use in various ways. I came to practice with some understanding of his game but now have the full picture as this kid can be used to stretch the field in the backfield or with his receiving ability. Woods picked up an offer from Wisconsin and should see an uptick in college interest with more eyes on his game.
Hayden Moore | 2026 | WR | Newberry | @SuperJhit9
Talk about being a natural D1 athlete with all the tools to work with. If this kid gets in the weight room and takes track a bit more seriously, Newberry will have another serious prospect on the roster. He’s already a problem but is still putting it all together. A 6-3 frame, Moore is a talented wide receiver who I could possibly see playing the defensive back position at a high level.
Collins Dunmore Collins Dunmore 6'4" | 215 lbs | QB Gainesville Buchholz | 2025 FL | 2025 | QB | Newberry | @CollinsDunmore
Not sure how I missed this kid during our PRZ Orlando Camp but won’t make the mistake again. This kid is all of 6-5, 225-pounds with the spring period to get his mechanics and timing right with his new receivers. Dunmore has a solid base and release when going through routes on air and was solid during the team period. Once he gets the playbook and scheme down, the game will slow where he can be better with his eyes. Left impressed with his upside and ability to lead this team under center.
La’Harry Debose | 2026 | DB | Newberry | @laharrydebose3
My DOG of the day had to be this kid who was vocal throughout practice but was not afraid to back it up. He started from the jump during the early competition period that got the kids fired up. That energy translated in the 1v1 period that I was impressed with. Gave me a chance to look at his technique and coverage skills which were solid. Combine that with a lengthy frame and another two seasons to grow, look out Debose at the DB position to make noise.
Best of the Rest: If a kid is listed here coaches, check him out.
