<p>Here is a look at the players we think can build on a successful 2023 campaign and give their teams the best hope in 2024.</p>

<p><em>BLACKSBURG WILDCATS</em></p>

<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1149066' first='Josh' last='Sims']</strong> QB, 2025</p>

<p>Sims returns after throwing for over 2,000 yards and 21 touchdowns last fall. The Wildcats will employ a spread attack and that plays right into Sims's skill set. He has a big arm and he likes to throw the ball downfield and does not look for short routes. He has enough mobility that he can scramble around until one of his receivers can break open. It's not out of the question to expect Sims to increase his numbers in helping Blacksburg improve on last season's 3-7 record.</p>

<p><strong>Kjay Proctor</strong> ATH, 2025</p>

<p>We have Proctor (pictured) listed as quarterback, but he also plays a mean defensive end. He likely will double duty again in hoping the Eagles can improve on last year's 6-6 record. Proctor throws a nice deep ball and doesn't mind throwing into coverage. Even when he scrambles around, he keeps his eyes downfield. He's 6-foot-1, 210 pounds and can rush the passer on defense and has a knack for making a tackle for loss.</p>

<p>Poore might end up selling popcorn this season as well. Last season, he threw for over 500 yards, ran for an additional 350 yards and had nearly 100 yards receiving. He added 16 tackles and two passes defended. He will get a chance to expand those numbers this season with the Cardinals leading rusher graduated from last year's 5-6 team. He can scramble and make something out of busted plays and has a quick first step that usually leaves the defender grabbing for air. </p>

<p><strong>Logan Smith</strong> QB, 2025</p>

<p>Smith threw for just over 1,000 yards and 10 touchdowns and added another 551 yards and 10 touchdowns on the ground as a junior. The Red Devils went 7-4 last season. Smith has a chance to increase his numbers as his skill set has gotten more polished. He throws well on the move and doesn't mind tucking it and running when the opportunity presents itself. He's 6-foot-3 and can make defenses miss by putting his foot in the ground and making a cut.</p>

<p>It's been a pretty good season when you throw for nearly 1,700 yards and added another 800 yards rushing but Richardson is just getting started. He has a quick release and is another big-armed quarterback that likes to throw the deep ball. He doesn't have many designed runs but can tuck it and go the distance on the ground as well. His development will be key after Clinton finished 10-3 last season. </p>
