Two of the St. Petersburg area programs that we will spotlight today – the third day of spring football – are Largo Indian Rocks Christian and St. Petersburg Gibbs.
INDIAN ROCKS LOOKING FOR ANOTHER PLAYOFF RUN
While the 2023 season ended with a loss to 1M state runner up Clearwater Central Catholic, head coach Mark Buchanan and his Eagles reflected on a year that would go through many ups and downs.
While there were some close games, this team also learned from playing opponents who were deeper and had more experience.
Ending 6-5, this is a team that hit the spring with plenty of optimism – while knowing that the rising senior (2025), junior (2026) and sophomore (2027) classes had some quality playmakers who can keep the program in the mix.
Here is a look at some of those prospects:

GIBBS LOOKING FOR A TURNAROUND IN 2024
Pay no attention to the record this past season, what the St. Petersburg Gibbs Gladiators and head coach Emmerson Clarke are concerned with is the future.
This off-season was one that was to set the tone for the future, and with spring under way, the next month and into the summer will speak volumes about changing the culture.
This is a team that has the talent, and with several younger prospects on the way, there is a sense that with an active four months, 2024 will end much better for this historic program.
There will be some student/athletes that will need to step up this coming season. Here are a few Class of 2025 (rising seniors):
Kyree Jenkins, Athlete, 6-2, 165.
Mathis Roberts, Athlete, 6-3, 190.
Dynum Miley, OLB/EDGE, 6-0, 190.
Jacob Daniels, S/WR, 6-1, 165.
BUILDING FOR THE FUTURE
As much as the rising senior class will be instrumental in the 2024 season, keep an eye on the rising junior (2026) class that has some impressive talent as well.
Here are a few of them:
Dakota Alford, OT, 6-6, 260.
Gabriel Dilworth, LB/RB, 5-10, 210.
Deijon Reedy, OL/DL, 5-11, 300.
Javier Thomas, WR/EDGE, 6-5, 170.
