But the Bears have reason to be excited with some of the young, up and coming talent they have in their 2026 and 2027 classes. They look to change the direction of the program under Head Coach Jason Wheeler in 2024 with some talented players who have the potential to turns things around on the westside of Fort Worth. Here are several players who will be key to the Bears success as they look to turn things around in 2024.
Outhouse Jr. has the complete skill set that colleges covet at the cornerback position and he is going to be a major contributor for the Brewer Bears in 2024. Jerry is filling into his frame, at 6’1 175 pounds, he has an extended reach with broad shoulders and he still has plenty of room to grow. Outhouse Jr. is a technician, he transitions into his backpedal smoothly, his footwork is clean and he moves fluidly in space with ability to change directions quickly. Jerry has ideal size combined with great instincts and superb ball skills that allow him to be a ballhawk. He has a high ceiling and as he continues to mature his game will flourish. Look for Outhouse Jr. to be one of the defensive leaders for Brewer in the 2024 season. Outhouse Jr. is a player to keep an eye on in the state of Texas in the 2027 class.
Highlights
Moody is strong at the point of attack with a powerful punch, he plays with great leverage and he has the pop in his game to stun defenders at engagement. Devin is a mauler in the run game, he has piston-like leg drive and his ability move the crowd in the trenches allows him clear holes in the running game. Moody is just scratching the surface and has the potential to be a key cog in the Bear offensive game plan in 2024.
Highlights
Mande has a swiss army knife type of game, he can line up in the box and come downhill, attacking from all angles within the Bears defensive scheme. He plays fast but under control, he plays with good leverage and he is a sure tackler in the open field. Mande has the skill set to cover well in space, he is a ballhawk when the ball in thrown his way and he closes on the ball with good speed. At the Bears most recent spring practice, Mande played well in coverage, playing sticky defense with several pass breakups. He has the skill set to come down and cover in the slot as a nickelback and make plays. Expect Mande to patrol the Bear secondary this season and colleges should get eyes on him heading into the fall in season.
Highlights
Davis will be under center for the Bears in 2024 and he will be a key cog in the Brewer offensive attack. Lucas can spin it, he has great touch on his deep ball and he has the ability to work the short to intermediate routes with accuracy. At the Bears most recent practice, he was on time and in rhythm, he has full command of the offense and he was hitting on all cylinders. Expect Davis to light a fire under the Bear offense in 2024, allowing the Brewer offense to open up their air attack.
Highlights
Brown passes the eye test at 6’6 320 pounds, he has an extended reach with clean footwork and he moves well in space. At the Bears most recent practice he showed good burst off the ball, he uses his hands well and his powerful punch at engagement allows him to get control of defenders. Brown will be force in the trenches for Brewer this fall and look for the Bears to lean heavily on his physical play up front. He is a name to know who has been flying under the radar and should get on some college radars this fall.
Highlights
Hankins was a player who stood out at the Bears most recent spring practice. He moves well in space, his footwork is clean and he uses his extended reach to deliver a stiff punch at engagement. The 6’5 270 pound junior to be has the potential to be one of the strong leaders in the Brewer trenches in 2024. As Hankins gains more experience and continues to develop, look for Hankins to contribute to the Bears offensive attack in 2024.
Highlights
Carr is a superb route runner, he gets in and out of his breaks quickly and he has reliable hands that attack the football in flight. He was one of the receiving standouts at the Bears most recent practice, showing an ability to get open often. Cameron has a lean, athletic frame, with strong hands and he has the skill set that makes him a quarterback’s go to guy. Carr was productive during his junior season and he should benefit from Davis’s emergence as the Brewer signal caller in 2024 due to his ability to spread the ball around to multiple targets.
Highlights
Carrigan is a big body target who has good burst off of the line of scrimmage, he runs crisp routes and he has the body control to win at the snap to get open. He has a large catch radius with strong hands and he attacks the ball with purpose when the ball is thrown his way. Jaiden was one of the go to targets in the Bears most recent spring practice and should be one of the featured weapons in the Brewer offense in 2024. Carrigan has the speed to get deep, he tracks the ball well in flight and he can play above the rim, showing the athleticism to climb the ladder and make big grabs. Look for the Bears to make it a priority to get the ball in his hands in 2024.
Foster has a nose for the football, he plays fast and his ability to cover in space was one traits that stood out at their most recent practice this spring. He has clean footwork with excellent short area quickness and he plays with a ballhawk mentality in coverage. Kaiden has the skill set to be a sticky defender in coverage but he plays under control which enables him to play well in close quarters. Look for him to be a key contributor for the Bears defensively in 2024.
