NE7v7 Battle For the Monarch Crown | Midwest Mambas Standouts

At the Nebraska 7v7 tournament, I saw Nebraska-based teams from Omaha, Lincoln, and Aurora while also getting some looks at teams from Iowa and Missouri.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Coach Tank Perry has been busy building up the Nebraska 7v7 tournament circuit to help bring exposure to Nebraska athletes here on our own home turf. The Battle for the Monarch Crown was one of a few tournaments coming up in the NE7v7 series.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>We had some Central Nebraska representation at Saturday's tournament with the Midwest Mambas coming through to duke it out. I was very excited to check them out, being that this was my first time seeing these guys in person for the first time. Came up extremely clutch on crucial downs on offense while forcing turnovers and breaking up passes on defense.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>- Elite route runner. Very good footwork and is explosive throughout the route and at the breakoff point.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>- Turnover machine on defense. There were a couple of plays where Canon did an excellent job baiting the QB into making the throw before flying in to pick it off. Straight up ball-hawk!</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>- Certified hands. Caught everything thrown near him and is consistent through the catch process.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>- Excels at creating separation from defenders and has a sixth sense for where weak spots in the defense will be.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong><em>[player_tooltip player_id='736420' first='Booker' last='Scheierman'] | 2025 | QB | Aurora | 6'7" 205 lbs</em></strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong><em><a href="https://www.hudl.com/profile/15070938/Booker-Scheierman" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Hudl</a> | <a href="https://twitter.com/BScheierman" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Twitter</a></em></strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>- Booker's size immediately catches your attention. At 6'7" and 200 pounds, he can stand tall in the pocket while analyzing the entire field.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>- Good, clean release with the accuracy to place the ball exactly where his receiver needs the ball.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>- Nice arm strength to push the deep ball and do so accurately.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>- Scheierman does a great job reading the defense and can move through his progressions very well to find the open receiver.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong><em>[player_tooltip player_id='1060326' first='Julian' last='Hernandez'] | 2025 | WR/DB | Aurora | 5'11" 165 lbs</em></strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong><em><a href="https://www.hudl.com/profile/16314557/Julian-Hernandez" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Hudl</a> | <a href="https://twitter.com/JulianH3239839" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Twitter</a></em></strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>- Eye-opening day for Julian! He was one of the players who really caught me by surprise during my first in-person look at him.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>- A very twitchy receiver who can shake defenders off of him to create separation. Possession-type receiver who you can count on to get open over the middle and help keep the chains moving.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>- Tough at the catch point.
