<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Our tape evaluations from the class of 2025 continue as we break down the linebackers in the state of Illinois.&nbsp; Here we dive into <strong>2025 Film Room: Southern Illinois Linebackers</strong>!</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Kelyan LeGrant (East St. Louis – 6'3” 200)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>This outside linebacker jumps off the tape!&nbsp; He is super explosive laying the hammer down on his tackles.&nbsp; Sheds blocks well getting to the back.&nbsp; Crashes down the line.&nbsp; Can line up at the line as an edge rushing the passer with good burst off the line of scrimmage.&nbsp; Technically sound player that is great in pursuit often taking on the initial block and getting off it to get his man.&nbsp; Contributes on special teams as well!</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='831091' first='Drake' last='Mosley'] (O'Fallon – 6'2” 205)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Mosley is a 6'2" linebacker that racked up 92 tackles as a junior along with 19 tackles for loss and 2 sacks.&nbsp; Good use of his hands and sheds blocks well.&nbsp; Burst getting into the backfield in the fun game for TFL.&nbsp; Wraps up and seems to always take solid angles.&nbsp; Identifies and reacts quickly.&nbsp; Physical at the point of attack.&nbsp; Can rush on the edge too as he blew up the back on one play getting to the QB.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1292104' first='Cooper' last='Zimmer'] (Belleville Althoff – 6'3” 230)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Good size and length. Very good in pass coverage dropping and staying with slot guys or TE.&nbsp; Can get up field and after the QB on the edge as well.&nbsp; Great closing speed when tackling in open field and pursuing the ball carrier.&nbsp; Diagnoses plays and can shed blocks in the box.&nbsp; Brings versatility too being an effective H-Back on the offensive side of the ball.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1292319' first='Isaac' last='Phipps'] (Cahokia – 6'1” 200)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Edge rushing outside linebacker that forced a fumble on the opening play of his tape on a sack.&nbsp; Physical tackler that is powerful.&nbsp; Quickness off the line of scrimmage and physical at the point of attack.&nbsp; Can line up some on the defensive line as well.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='331479' first='Michael' last='Tongay'] (Collinsville – 6'0” 190)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>This outside linebacker is a bit on the light side, but he can really run and has versatility going forward and back.&nbsp; Can cover well showcasing that on several interceptions.&nbsp; Slippery getting through blocks and runs really well.&nbsp; Wraps up!</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
