To not much surprise the Sioux Falls Area market dominates this list, but this group also has a couple small school hidden gems to evaluate further as their stock continues to grow.
#5: Tommy Hoffman Tommy Hoffman 6'2" | 170 lbs | QB Sioux Falls Washington | 2025 State SD , Sioux Falls Washington Twitter
From 3/27’s eval
Tommy is a 2025 quarterback that I have liked the progression of his tape over the years, as his mechanics, arm strength, and precision have all improved highly since his freshmen year. He certainly has dedicated plenty of more time in the weight room as he is 20 pounds stronger since his first season and it shows out on tape. Where he has has improved most in my eyes is with his touch throws on intermediate routes, as those drop well-versed into the receivers gloves from my eye test. Tommy is a QB prospect that I think can grow a bunch of stock with a good camp season in the 2025 class.
#4: Lincoln Prins Lincoln Prins 6'0" | 175 lbs | QB Sioux Falls Christian | 2025 State SD , Sioux Falls Christian Twitter
Lincoln comes in as QB4 amongst South Dakota 2025 gunslingers and had an excellent year with over 2000+ yards and 27 total touchdowns (22 pass, 5 rush). Lincoln shows off excellent arm strength and precision that showed off fluidly throughout his tape. Lincoln also shows off well-versed touch within his throws especially on intermediate and deep routes where it shows off most. The calm demeanor Lincoln shows off as a pocket passer thrives on tape as the poise pops out more on tape vs. our QB5. At 6’0 185 pounds, Lincoln has the depth in his arm that gives his WRs plenty of wiggle room.
#3: Boston Katzer Boston Katzer 6'3" | 195 lbs | QB Lennox | 2025 State SD , Lennox Twitter
Boston checks in as my QB3 in amongst 2025 South Dakota quarterbacks and is one that has certainly become a stockriser over the last year or so. One of the first skillsets that pops out on tape from Boston is his escapability, as I believe amongst this QB group so far he is one of the best with that skillset in mind and makes throws on the run with solid instinct and a sound football IQ of where the ball is headed to give his Orioles WR the best look upfield. Boston also shows off great mechanics and one of the quickest releases amongst this QB group thus far and passes the eye test of the measureables Division II and FCS schools want in their QB room which should state clearly, you will see Boston playing on Saturdays.
#2: Holden Havlik Holden Havlik 6'3" | 210 lbs | QB WWSSC | 2025 State SD , QB, WWSSC Twitter
Holden has been in our QB2 for a while, but after being the first QB from this group so far to get his first offer this week, it makes us feel better about our long-term evaluation on this young man for sure. At 6’3 210 pounds, Holden’s mobility is excellent as he shows off the composure even from the run to act like there was zero pressure whatsoever. Even outside of the pocket, shows off excellent mechanics and just has a instinctive knack for finding the best fit for the ball. Those instincts pop out quick too from his yards he gets from the run as Holden shows off elusiveness with how reactive he is to cross the line of scrimmage with his legs off the snap. The first NSIC offer is on the table, and it will not be long until more offers come his way. The overall balance between the skillsets mentioned, is why Holden is QB 2 in South Dakota in my eyes.
#1: Sam Knuth Sam Knuth 6'4" | 200 lbs | QB Harrisburg | 2025 State SD , Harrisburg Twitter
Last but not least, the QB that has been our most consistent QB1 we have in this 2025 QB class is Harrisburg gunslinger Sam Knuth Sam Knuth 6'4" | 200 lbs | QB Harrisburg | 2025 State SD . Watching Sam’s throwing motion shows off artistic Division I value to next-level suitors, as his precision on deep routes looks close to effortless within the pocket. At 6’4 just over 200 pounds, Sam persistently puts the ball right in the bread-basket with his precise fits with intermediate and deep routes downfield. Based on what the junior tape shows, I don’t think his tape even does the justice of his mobility outside of the pocket he has at his disposal, as the athletic mobility Sam has as well as a similar frame to his older brother Jacob (Kansas State QB) put this young man as I have been saying all along, as South Dakota’s number one gunslinger and I do not see that changing anytime soon in this 2025 class.
