This past weekend, Posa returned the favor by taking an unofficial visit to Eugene, OR to check out the Ducks program.
Oregon is renowned for having some of the best football facilities in the nation (thank you, Nike founder Phil Knight) and Posa watched a spring practice and met the Duck assistant coaches and players.
“It was my first time visiting there,” Posa told Prep Redzone New Mexico. “It was an amazing weekend. I watched them practice and I got to talk with Coach Lanning, Coach Mike (LB Coach) and Coach Lupoi (DC). I got to meet the starting linebackers, Dillion Gabriel, Bo Nix and pretty much the entire staff.”
Oregon is one of more than a dozen offers Posa holds from FBS schools, including Alabama, Texas A&M, Baylor, Wisconsin, Nebraska, Texas Tech, TCU, Oklahoma State, Stanford, Utah, Illinois and Arizona. Posa recently won his third straight Class 5A wrestling championship in his weight class and, of course, helped lead the Bears to the Class 6A football title last fall.
Posa’s La Cueva teammate, 2025 OL Mark Handy Mark Handy 6'6" | 295 lbs | OL La Cueva | 2025 State NM , was recently offered by Georgia Tech.
2024 Farmington QB Trel Griego Trel Griego 6'3" | 225 lbs | QB Farmington | 2024 State NM , who threw for nearly 3,600 yards and 39 TD as a senior for the Scorpions, committed to New Mexico Highlands. Griego is big (6-3, 230 pounds) and possesses a cannon for an arm. Most likely, he’ll compete immediately for the Cowboys starting QB job.
