While the Gators finished 5-5 and failed to make the playoffs, they did end the year on a three-game winning streak, sending the returning players into the off-season with a positive feeling.
Starting out 2-0 and ending the year with those three victories had players and coaches asking what if…
What if a few of those losses had turned into wins – the season could have gone much differently. But to ensure that does not happen again this coming season, this spring and summer will be vital as rising seniors (Class of 2025) will be needed to add the experience and leadership. What they went through this past season and failed to send the seniors from last season out with a state playoff game is something that will certainly drive them this coming year.
That 2025 class will feature quality playmakers – with Austin Barron (WR, 5-8, 145), Zach Campbell (TE/DL, 6-1, 220 – 4.2 GPA), Mason Clarke (RB/QB/LB, 5-10, 170 – 2.45 GPA), Donovan Faria Donovan Faria 6'1" | 175 lbs | DB Land O Lakes | 2025 FL (WR/CB, 6-1, 175 – 3.81 GPA), Cole Greenwell (OT/DL, 6-5, 291 – 4.2 GPA), Dylan Meiczinger (WR, 5-10, 152 – 3.8 GPA), Patrick Monger Patrick Monger 5'8" | 115 lbs | WR Land O Lakes | 2025 FL (WR/DB, 5-10, 150 – 3.3 GPA), T.J. Morrow (RB/QB/LB, 5-9, 171 – 3.8 GPA), and versatile Brenden Thompson (OG/DT, 5-10, 235 – 2.7 GPA).
WHAT ABOUT THE FUTURE?
If this team starts to turn things around and qualifies for post season, the underclassmen will have plenty to say about it.
Class of 2026 rising juniors Xavier Clemente (WR, 5-5, 132 – 3.09 GPA), Christian Covington (DE, 6-5, 171 – 2.5 GPA), Brady Dowen (WR, 5-10, 156 – 3.4 GPA), Drew Graham (K, 5-11, 160 – 3.3 GPA), Jake Mason (TE/Edge, 6-3, 195), and defensive end Aiden O’Neal (6-0, 204 – 2.73 GPA) could all be difference makers.
In addition, Conner Purcell (WR/S, 6-4, 170 – 2.59 GPA), Lucas Sanders (MLB, 5-9, 195), John Vidal (RB – 3.217 GPA), and Christian VollSteadt (TE/OLB) will be expected to make a huge contribution.
