After losing to eventual 1R state champion Hawthorne in the playoffs, veteran head coach Ed Johnson and his Newberry football team headed back to work.
While there are many programs throughout the state of Florida that puts in the work year-round, Newberry goes one step further.
No matter what event it may be, you will find prospects from this program attending and many times singled out as being the best.
This has become a program – even before last season’s 9-3 campaign – that attacks the off-season with as much confidence as any that lines up throughout the state.
In addition to competing in camps, combines and 7-on-7 events, this is a team that boasts well over a 3.0 grade point average in the classroom, which expands the recruiting possibilities even further.
As they head toward the spring, the focus is on this rising senior (2025) class that has been together for three years. It is a talented class that not only has experience, but also adds the needed leadership.
