FLORENCE | The present and future of South Carolina high school football was again on display Sunday afternoon at West Florence courtesy of the Carolinas Coaches Combine.

The afternoon session featured 190 underclassmen from the Grand Strand & Pee Dee and Midlands. It saw overall complete performances from event Most Valuable Player offensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id='402516' first='Zyon' last='Guiles'] of Carvers Bay as well as individual strong showings from the likes of defensive back Jordyn Adams of Lower Richland and running back [player_tooltip player_id='1036777' first='Trevon' last='Williamson'] of Gilbert.

Along with providing valuable recruiting data for college scouts, the combine included blue tickets to standout performers. These tickets serve as invitations to the revamped Joanne Langfitt Challenge Myrtle Beach in December.

This year's challenge will include 75 underclassmen from South Carolina facing off against players from North Carolina. They will take part in a series of combine drills and competitions the day before the Touchstone Energy Bowl.

A total of 11 “blue tickets” were issued Sunday with two multiple winners:

Most Valuable Player: [player_tooltip player_id='402516' first='Zyon' last='Guiles'] OL, Carvers Bay

At 6-foot-4 and 278 pounds, the rising junior put together an all-around effort both during the combine drills and one-on-one competition. He was rarely beaten during blocking drills as he used his 81-inch wingspan to control the charging defender.

Top Offensive Lineman: [player_tooltip player_id='1592650' first='Ethan' last='Cash'] OL, South Florence

Measuring just under 6-foot-5 and 342 pounds, the rising junior was the tallest player at the combine and second in weight only to Darlington rising junior [player_tooltip player_id='1664650' first='Jaiden' last='Green'] (352 pounds). He utilized his size to go with a workmanlike technique to stand out among the coaches.

Top Defensive Lineman: Malachi Gethers DL, Myrtle Beach

While on the smaller side as compared with other defensive linemen at the combine, the 5-foot-10, 215-pound rising junior measured high in perseverance, enthusiasm and a willingness to compete numerous times in one-on-one drills. Gethers showed a non-stop motor in taking on larger offensive linemen and rarely stopped to take a break.

Top Combo (Offense): [player_tooltip player_id='1036777' first='Trevon' last='Williamson'] RB, Gilbert

As a freshman, the 6-foot, 197-pounder was a mid-season revelation for the Indians. He immediately became a focal point of the offense with multiple 200-plus yard games and showed those skills during the position drills.

Top Combo (Defense): [player_tooltip player_id='816736' first='Terry' last='Gordon'] LB, South Florence

The Class of 2026 linebacker demonstrated his strength as he and [player_tooltip player_id='1025773' first='Romello' last='Patterson'] of West Florence were the only participants to post 24 reps during the bench press. He also had a vertical leap of 23.6 inches, measured 8.9 on the broad jump and was a persistent defender during individual drills.

Top Offensive Skill: Ayntwain Crawford WR, Mullins

The 6-foot-1, 182-pounder was measured with the longest wingspan (82 inches) of any wide receiver at the combine. His length and speed made him a preferable target for the quarterbacks during passing drills.

Top Defensive Skill: [player_tooltip player_id='1267280' first='Jordyn' last='Best'] DB, Lower Richland

The 5-foot-10, 168-pound rising junior was one of the most productive combine participants. He not only performed on a consistently high level during the drills, but he also posted the highest vertical leap at 29.1 inches. Best was also a difficult one-on-one matchup for wide receivers with his speed and technique.

Fastest 40: [player_tooltip player_id='1172363' first='Khristian' last='Jackson'] WR, Ridge View

Blazers' head coach Derek Howard spoke highly about the rising sophomore. His 4.5 time in the 40-yard dash gives the potential hope of Jackson becoming a reliable weapon for rising junior quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='840548' first='Tre' last='Howard'] (who won the Leadership Award) and another player to line up opposite All-State standout [player_tooltip player_id='233146' first='Jordon' last='Gidron'].

Fastest Pro Shuffle: LaDamien Belton RB, Crestwood

The rising junior posted the fastest time of anyone in West Florence at 4.13 seconds. His work during the individual drills shows the promise of helping the Knights' depth with the graduation of leading rusher [player_tooltip player_id='997149' first='Azarian' last='Yates'].
