Whether it is playing together in the trenches, in lock-step together on defense or just happy to be on the same team, these are guys who love the game and the work it takes to be great.
In this report we will take an analytical look at six standout players/teammates from three schools: Cheney, Derby and Field Kindley.
Teammates From Cheney:
Kolton Rohloff Kolton Rohloff 6'0" | 255 lbs | DL Cheney | 2025 State KS , 6’0, 255, DT/G, is coming off a season for the ages as he and his mates finished 13-0 and won the state championship in blizzard conditions. A two-way starter since he was a sophomore he has also received all-state mention both years. A powerful interior lineman who has good mechanics blocking for the run or in pass protection. He has agile feet and a quick initial step which enables him to gain leverage on his piledriving blocks. As a pulling guard he is deceptively quick and is also adept at moving to the next level to take out linebackers. On defense, he controls the line of scrimmage, splitting gaps and getting into the backfield in a hurry. Another standout Cheney lineman to keep on your watchlist.
Garren Campbell Garren Campbell 6'4" | 265 lbs | OL Cheney | 2025 State KS , 6’4, 265, OT/C, was also a big part of the Cheney championship run as a versatile lineman who can play either tackle or line up at center as needed. He is a skilled, long and strong mauler of a blocker who dominates the line of scrimmage wherever he is lined up. He is agile, positions well and drives from snap to whistle, often mashing the defender into the turf. He has a good kick out step and moves well in pass protection, keeping the pocket safe for Player of the Year quarterback Josh Burdick Josh Burdick 6'0" | 180 lbs | QB Cheney | 2025 State KS . On run blocking he is a powerful presence, steamrolling on down blocks and chipping off to cut off linebackers. Cheney line play is in good hands with this kid in the mix, get out and see him play.
Teammates From Derby:
Gavin Pfannenstiel Gavin Pfannenstiel 5'10" | 195 lbs | LB Derby | 2025 KS , 5’11, 195, LB/DB, is coming off an awesome season when he helped Derby to a state-runner up finish and added 91 total tackles and an interception. He is a versatile defender, excelling as a linebacker, but can also play strong safety or even move down to the edge and cause disruption in the backfield. He has outstanding instincts in the pass game, reading the quarterback and play schemes to close on the ball exceptionally fast. He has excellent cover skills, whether it is manning up backs out of the backfield or playing read and react in zone. He also tackles very well in space. He definitely gave Derby fans a glimpse of the greatness to come in 2024.
Milan Colvin Milan Colvin 6'1" | 290 lbs | ATH Derby | 2025 State KS , 6’1, 290, ATH, is entering his senior year following an all-state junior season when he contributed 58 total tackles, nine sacks, 18 tackles for loss and scored a defensive touchdown. On the other side of the ball, he was used as a bulldozer fullback to help move the chains and get the ball in the endzone, finishing with 152 yards rushing and two rushing touchdowns. He was also a national wrestling champion in the 285 division just for good measure. On the football field he is a wrecking machine wherever he is on the line of scrimmage. He destroys double teams and is almost unstoppable coming off the edge. He uses his size, lateral agility and bone-crushing hands to overwhelm blockers. He is a force to be reckoned with.
Teammates From Field Kindley:
Keshawn Hayes Keshawn Hayes 5'7" | 165 lbs | ATH Field Kindley | 2025 State KS , 5’9, 175, DB/FS, is entering his final season of high school football determined to show how he intends to take his game to the next level. As a centerfielder free safety, he has outstanding pass-game instincts and gets positioned well to make plays. He has top-notch read and react skills that enable him to make quick decisions and get to the ball in a hurry. His great closing speed allows him to make plays at the line of scrimmage or go across field to provide support. He is not a big hitter but doesn’t necessarily need to be to play free safety. He does tackle well in space and has the speed to chase down the fastest skill players he faces. He is also versatile enough to play corner if needed. He is a fun one to watch, get out and see him in action this fall.
Keiton Jones Keiton Jones 6'5" | 300 lbs | ATH Field Kindley | 2025 State KS , 6’5, 320, OT/ATH is coming off a solid junior season that let everyone know the big guy means business. He is usually a man among boys on the field as his massive frame and surprising quickness cause major headaches for opposing defenses. As an anchor at the backside tackle, he is a brawler of a blocker on the run, routinely plowing through his down blocks and getting up field to help as needed. He has surprisingly good feet and quickness for his size. His quick initial step and a lethal initial strike from his outstretched arms usually lays the opposition out on the turf. He is one of those block-out-the-sun offensive tackles that colleges are looking for these days. He has all the tools and is prepped to shine in ’24. Get out and see him dominate live.
