Chris Garland – DB – Buford
The Buford Wolves are always pumping out talented defensive backs, and Chris Garland is one who is seeing his recruitment pick up after a strong junior season last fall. The 6-foot-1 180-pounder has earned recent offers from Stanford, Eastern Michigan, Delaware, Duke, Western Michigan, UCONN, among others. He’s a long-strider in coverage who does a nice job of running with receivers down the field on the perimeter. He plays with quick feet and good technique, with the ability to react quickly against the run. His length and instincts allow him to make plays in coverage, but he can also bring a physical presence against the run. He can fly into the backfield and can make a big tackle in the open field. He’s one of the fastest-rising defensive backs in Gwinnett County right now and could see more offers come his way later in the off-season.
Tayvian Mckibbins – OL/DL – Cass
A massive North Georgia offensive lineman out of Cass High School, Mckibbins is a strong, big-bodied tackle at 6-foot-4 300-pounds who really bullied defenders at times last year. He has an easy power five frame and does a great job of blocking hard until the whistle. He shows strong legs that allow him to drive defenders backwards in the run game. He has the potential to turn into a truly dominant left tackle last year, but the offers are rolling in now. The up and coming lineman, who can also help out defensively, earned a recent offer from Coastal Carolina. He’s a prospect on the rise and his potential is easy to see. The Colonels have the potential to have a giant 2024 season, and if they do, this impactful lineman could be a big reason why.
Jake Atha – OL – Prince Avenue Christian
A lean, athletic left tackle who can really move, Atha is coming off a really impressive junior season where he protected one of the state’s best passers during the 2023 season. Atha bring a lean, promising frame at 6-foot-3 270-pounds and made a big impact both in the run game and the passing game. He was extremely dependable as a pass protector due his his length, quick feet, and above-average athleticism for his size. In the run game, Atha pulls with ease and knows how to find and attack linebackers at the second level. He can open some giant running lanes and was a reliable lineman all season long for the Single-A state champions last year. This junior can absolutely play at the next level, and this week he earned an offer from the in-state Georgia Panthers.
