Continue ReadingPrep Redzone has been featuring reports on the Class of 2024 Kansas college signees for several weeks now. For whatever reason I have discovered a group of 23 ranked athletes who have not been recently recognized for their college commitments.
Here is Part Two of two reports featuring such Kansas stars. Starting tomorrow I will begin featuring the more than 100 unranked Kansas players who have signed and begin integrating them into the rankings.
There will be a Class of 2024 Rankings update either the last week in February or the first week in March.
As mentioned before, if you have signed and I missed it, or if you sign later this spring, please feel free to DM me @KSScoutDeck or email me at deckscoutks@gmail.com.
Harlem Miller Harlem Miller 5'10" | 290 lbs | DL Medicine Lodge | 2024 State KS , DL, 5’10”, 290, Medicine Lodge (Dodge City CC)
I saw Miller compete at the Butler CC “Trench Warfare Camp” last year. He is ranked No. 208 overall. He is a run-stopping space-eater who I compared to former Detroit Lion Jerry Ball. I had a sense he might end up at Butler, but Miller decided to take his outlaw game to Dodge City. He should be an impact player there for two years and then be a slam-dunk transfer.
Jalen Massey Jalen Massey 5'9" | 170 lbs | RB Lyndon | 2024 State KS , RB, 5’9”, 170, Lyndon (Washburn)
Massey had a solid senior season for the 8-man state champion Lyndon Tigers. He is ranked No. 211 and has committed to play in the MIAA for the Washburn Ichabods. Massey rushed for 1,373 yards and 19 touchdowns during his senior campaign. He also had 30 receptions good for 435 yards and eight touchdowns. He is joining a deep class of ’24 at Washburn. If I was a betting man, I would bet that he redshirts his freshman season to add some size and for the Ichabod coaching staff to evaluate where what position they want to utilize him at.
Luke Edwards Luke Edwards 6'1" | 170 lbs | QB Santa Fe Trail | 2024 State KS , QB, 6’1”, 170, Santa Fe Trail (Ottawa)
Edwards is an underrecruited quarterback from Santa Fe Trai High School. The Charger signal caller is currently ranked No. 234 overall in the class of 2024. He threw for 1,671 yards and 21 touchdowns. He is a physical runner who carried the ball 56 times for 214 yards and nine touchdowns. Think of him as future Jalen Hurts or Josh Allen running the “tush-push” in the red zone and on short-yardage plays. I am going to go ahead and coin the phrase for Ottawa’s Head Coach Nick Davis and call the play the “Otter Plunge.”
La’Vonte McGowan La’Vonte McGowan 6'0" | 240 lbs | DL Atchison | 2024 State KS , DL, 6’0”, 240, Atchison (Highland CC)
McGowan is a physical lineman who had multiple offers to choose from. The Atchison big man is currently Ranked No. 236 overall. He looks tougher than a Two-Dollar Steak and meaner than a junkyard dog. He is one of three interior linemen in this group who have decided to play for the Highland Scotties.
Caeleb Taylor Caeleb Taylor 6'4" | 205 lbs | DL Olathe North | 2024 State KS , DL, 6’4”, 205, Olathe North (Highland CC)
Taylor will be battling in drills with McGowan next fall. He is taller, leaner, and faster than McGowan Tayor is ranked No. 242 by Prep Redzone Kansas. He is an edge rusher who uses in length and speed to beat offensive linemen. He and McGowan could very well end up lining up next to each other on Highland Head Coach D.J. Mayo’s starting defensive line.
Judah Jones Judah Jones 5'8" | 190 lbs | RB Shawnee Mission North | 2024 State KS , LB, 5’8”, 190, Shawnee Mission North (Kansas)
Nothing about Jones’ senior statistics would suggest he is a slam dunk Division I player, but he is impressive on film and the Jayhawks see something they like. He is currently ranked No. 249 among his Kansas peers. During his senior season, he rushed for 911 yards and eight touchdowns for the Bison.
Braeden Gorby Braeden Gorby 6'1" | 215 lbs | LS Olathe NW | 2024 State KS , LS, 6’1”, 215, Olathe Northwest (Northwest Missouri)
Groby is a long snapper who signed early with Northwest Missouri. He is ranked No. 258 in the Kansas Class of 2024 and is the No. 2 ranked long snapper.
Kyrece Robinson Kyrece Robinson 6'2" | 230 lbs | DL Topeka West | 2024 State KS , DL, 6’2”, 230, Topeka West (Hutchinson CC)
Robinson is a tough-nosed defensive lineman from Topeka West. He is ranked No. 259 and has committed to play for the Hutchinson Blue Dragons. He will have two years to improve his game in a winning program and hopefully parlay that into a big transfer to a four-year program after two seasons.
Gage Lee Gage Lee 5'10" | 180 lbs | RB Garden Plain | 2024 State KS , RB, 5’10”, 180, Garden Plain (Friends)
Lee rushed for over 1,000 yards during his senior season and is a threat as a return man. He is currently Ranked No. 270 over and will be playing for Terry Harrison’s Friends Falcons in the KCAC.
Aydan Spiers Aydan Spiers 6'6" | 240 lbs | DL Kapaun Mt. Carmel | 2024 State KS , DL, 6’6”, 240, Kapaun Mt. Carmel (Emporia State)
Spires is a physical lineman who is ranked No. 273. He should add some depth to the Garrin Higgins’ Emporia State Hornets squad. He could play on the offensive or defensive line depending on Emporia’s future needs.
Grady Noll Grady Noll 5'11" | 170 lbs | ATH Jefferson County North | 2024 State KS , ATH, 5’11”, 170, Jefferson County North (Dordt)
Noll has a nice combination of size and speed. He is ranked No. 290 and is packing his bags for Iowa. He has committed to play for Dordt Defenders.
Josh Nitschke Josh Nitschke 6'1" | 180 lbs | DB Topeka West | 2024 State KS , DB, 6’1”, 180, Topeka West (Garden City CC)
Nitschke plays with high energy. He can tackle and I anticipate he will compete for a spot as free safety, strong safety or possibly outside linebacker at the next level. He is ranked No. 319 and has committed to play for Garden City Community College and new head coach Kiyoshi Harris.
