We’ve got all the details on Prep Redzone…
Herbert Scroggins III – Benedictine
A long, athletic defender out of Savannah who can really attack the quarterback, this outstanding prospect on the rise was a major reason why the Cadets took home another state championship this past season. At 6-foot-3 220-pounds, Scroggins is coming off a giant 2023 season where he made 84 tackles, 10 TFLs, and a team-leading 12 sacks. His length and quickness off the snap allowed him to create havoc in the backfield on a consistent basis, and his motor and pursuit of the ball-carrier stood out all season long. He bends well off the edge and can shed blocks consistently when running down the quarterback. He’s one of the top 2025 defenders in a very talent-heavy Savannah area, and the offers are rolling in. The impressive, versatile linebacker earned a recent offer from the Auburn Tigers, and more are likely coming his way. He added other offers in late July from North Carolina, Texas A&M, Southern Cal, among others.
Stephen Miller Stephen Miller 6'2" | 180 lbs | ATH Greene County | 2025 State GA – Greene County
A do-it-all prospect out of the small town of Greensboro, Miller is a true playmaker no matter where he’d lined up. Whether it’s on offense, defense, or special teams, this fast-rising athlete knows how to make a big play. On offense, Miller played some quarterback for the Tigers and made lots of plays with his feet. He’s quick, explosive, and one of the better natural athletes not only on the team, but across the area. One of the best players in the region, this 6-foot-2 180-pounder was a true ball-hawk in the secondary, picking off six passes last year. He showed really good instincts in coverage and knows how to catch the ball like a receiver. Of course, when he has the ball, he’s looking to score. He’s a player who might see his recruitment take off soon, especially after earning an offer from the LSU Tigers. He’s a player to keep a close eye on this off-season with the potential to have a monster 2024 season as a senior.
Mark Manfred Mark Manfred 6'3" | 180 lbs | ATH Sprayberry | 2025 State GA – DB – Sprayberry
We’ve written about this playmaking Sprayberry defender before, and his stock has increased more and more over the last several weeks. A breakout prospect in Cobb County right now, Manfred is a defensive back with excellent size and ball skills at 6-foot-3 175-pounds. As a junior this fall, this Marietta native made 57 tackles, five TFLs, one INT, and one forced fumble. He already holds a very impressive offers list, and this week he added a new big one from the LSU Tigers. In the secondary, Manfred uses his long arms to know away the ball when it comes his way. He has enough size to hold his own against bigger, stronger receivers on the outside, and he plays the ball in the air like a receiver. He runs well, knows how to tackle, and opened up a lot of eyes as a junior last fall. Look for him to have a giant 2024 season with the possibility of seeing more offers continue to come his way.
