Continue ReadingFollowing one of the best seasons in recent history, losing to eventual champion Oviedo Master’s Academy in the Sunshine State Athletic Association playoffs, Gainesville Oak Hall head coach R.J. Fuhr and his team were anxious to get the off-season started.
That loss, coupled with a regular season setback to Master’s Academy were the only two losses in a year that saw this program win nine games and establish themselves as a program to keep an eye on.
What the Eagles did in 2023 is put together a year that shined a spotlight on several quality prospects who will move on to the next level.
In outscoring the opposition 408-170, there were several underclassmen that stepped up and made a huge impact. Those prospects would make up the nucleus for the 2024 season.
Among those standouts in the rising senior (2025) class include versatile Dakota Brower Dakota Brower 5'11" | 180 lbs | ATH Gainesville Oak Hall | 2025 State FL , who plays quarterback, slot receiver, kicker, and cornerback, and happens to be one of the top recruits in Northeast Florida. Brower also boasts a 3.9 GPA in the classroom.
In addition to Brower are Fisher Brown (WR/CB, 5-9, 120 – 3.45 GPA), Briggs Copeland (RB/QB/CB/OLB, 5-11, 185 – 3.18 GPA), Daniel Grow (SS/OT/OLB, 6-2, 175 – 4.48 GPA)
Aidan Jerkins (G/NG, 5-10, 210), Gavin Jones (DE/QB/TE, 6-3, 195 – 3.58 GPA), Peyton La (WR, 5-8, 135 – 2.95 GPA), Josh Turner (OT/DE, 5-11, 185 – 4.47 GPA),
Tommy Weber (TE/DE, 6-3, 185 – 3.43 GPA) and versatile Bear Wooley (RB/CB, 5-11, 165 – 3.43 GPA).
MORE TALENT ON THE WAY
In addition to an impressive 2025 class, there are also some quality rising juniors (2026) – with Aaron Akins Aaron Akins 5'10" | 170 lbs | ATH Gainesville Oak Hall | 2026 FL (QB/RB/CB/WR, 5-10, 155 – 3.47 GPA), Taylor Brown (WR/DE, 5-11, 165), Evin Dix (CB, 5-11, 165 – 2.8 GPA), Austin Provencher (OL, 5-11, 205 – 4.03 GPA), John Michael Roscow (OLB/OT, 5-11, 205 – 3.69 GPA), and offensive lineman Ronnie Wehbe (5-10, 220 – 3.17 GPA)
The Class of 2027 (rising sophomores) will also have a pair of student/athletes to keep an eye on – with Andrew Akins (OG/NG, 5-11, 160) and Gavin Peterson (QB/DB, 5-11, 160)
