I wanted to highlight some of Missouri’s more talented players in areas outside of Kansas City & St. Louis. Below, I break down some of the best players the rest of the state needs to know about.
Silas Midgyett
Silas Midgyett
Silas Midgyett is one of the most talented rushers in northern Missouri. Silas had over 1,200 yards for Chillicothe’s rushing attack in 2023, but I am surprised he has not received more attention from schools in Missouri. Expect his recruitment to heat up before this fall. Coaches like Silas’ combination of size, toughness, and acceleration that consistently shows exploding through the point of attack. Silas’ strength, balance, and lateral quickness allows him to create in traffic at the second level. Silas’ vision and long speed suggests he has a good combination of tools to contribute as a playmaker in the open field in at the next level.
Saul Spurgeon
Saul Spurgeon
Saul Spurgeon is one of my favorite OL prospects in middle Missouri. Saul holds two offers from schools outside the Midwest, so be on the lookout for schools closer to Missouri to offer him before his senior year begins. A great combination of size, power, and athleticism shows knocking out second level defenders with one punch. Flashes of explosiveness, good leg drive, and football IQ highlight Saul’s potential to be a versatile run blocker at the next level. Strong hands, good patience, and physicality suggest Saul has all the tools to handle collegiate power rushers in pass protection.
Isaiah Hung Isaiah Hung 6’2″ | 195 lbs | LB Liberty | 2025 State MO is a good-sized linebacker out of Liberty whose recruitment is already heating up in 2024. Isaiah received his first offer from Yale this week, so be on the lookout for more to come in this spring. Isaiah’s quickness, fast hands, strength, and instincts allows him to easily beat blocks and disrupt opponents’ points of attack in the run game. Good tackling ability and a fluid change of direction shows finishing plays in the open field. Isaiah’s length, burst, and power displayed bull rushing pass blockers as an outside linebacker highlights the versatility he brings to a collegiate defense.

Carter Holliday Carter Holliday 6’4″ | 175 lbs | QB Hickman | 2025 State MO is one of the top quarterbacks throughout the entire state, let alone central Missouri. Carter has been invited to multiple game day visits and most recently visited the University of Kentucky. Watch out for his regional recruitment to skyrocket this spring. I was impressed with Carter’s improved poise and decision-making during the 2023 season. Carter shows a rare combination of size, poise, accuracy, and mobility evading pressure before dropping pinpoint throws in between defenders’ zone coverage. Carter’s vision, quickness, balance, arm strength, and accuracy on the run highlights his potential to be a top dual-threat prospect in Missouri before the 2024 season ends.

Donivan Taylor Donivan Taylor 5’9″ | 170 lbs | RB Rock Bridge | 2025 State MO is one of several college bound prospects for Rock Bridge. He has been on a game day visit to South Florida in the past and was invited to two Ivy League junior days this month. Expect Donivan’s first offer to come in before the season begins. Donivan shows good long speed and a fluid change of direction when guarding receivers vertically. Quick feet and good tackling ability shows redirecting to make plays on underneath receivers in the open field. Donivan’s awareness, ball skills, and next level explosiveness suggests he has the athletic ability to thrive as a versatile cover guy in college.
