Even though Coldwater and teams in the past have run the wing-t offenses and have not really utilized receivers, this conference still has produced some good ones. I really enjoyed watching tape on all 4 of these guys. Even though three guys are from Parma Western there still should be more emerge next season. Keep an eye out for all these guys next year as their play from the receiver position will be critical for their respective teams.
Maverick Hammond | Parma Western | Hudl
Hammond does a good job of getting open on slant routes. I like his speed and he shows the ability to stretch the field. He has good hands and does a good job of quickly getting the ball and tucking it into his body. Hammond has a smooth release off the line of scrimmage and it helps him run routes very effectively. I like his game a lot and I expect him to have a big season next year as a senior.
Jett Barnum | Hastings | Hudl
Barnum has a good feel for getting open. I like his ability to break tackles after the catch. Barnum does show the ability to adjust to the ball. He has good speed and like Maverick Hammond, has a good release off the line of scrimmage. Barnum is a good blocker as well. I like his game and he played a big part in Hastings winning the conference this past season.
DJ VanRiper | Parma Western | Hudl
VanRiper is a listed as a wide receiver and defensive back on Western’s roster but primarily plays cornerback. He has excellent ball skills and does a great job of adjusting to the ball and coming down with interceptions. He has smooth fluid movement skills and has the speed to not let receivers get behind him. He had a big play interception return for a touchdown against Battle Creek Pennfield. VanRiper is a good tackler as well and is not shy about flying up and helping in run support. VanRiper had a really nice season this past year and his play was a big reason Western won a lot of games.
Brody Videto | Parma Western | Hudl
Videto is listed as a tight end and plays mostly tight end but he is an excellent receiving threat none the less. I love how competitive he is and how he is always looking to pick up a block. Videto does a good job of getting open and is an a great red zone threat. He has very good height at 6-5 and really uses it to his advantage. Videto is a dominate run blocker and Western loved to run toss plays to his side to take advantage of his skill set. Videto has good hands and is a very good athlete overall. For a guy that is 6-5 he has very good body control. I like his game a lot and look forward to watching him play next year.
