The Prep Redzone 7v7 Circuit began this weekend in The Woodlands for our Lone Star Showdown. Just north of Houston, we got a chance to see some great players and teams compete from Louisiana and Texas. Throughout the next several days, we’re going to have a ton of coverage from the event, breaking down all the top players we saw. And we’d be mistaken if we didn’t take time to congratulate our champions. Bootleggers North won the 18U division while CG3-CAT Takeover took home the 15U and 14U titles. Keep it locked in to Prep Redzone for more content coming out of this weekend’s tournament and Oklahoma, you’re on the clock! We’ll see you on March 2nd and 3rd!
In this post, we’re taking a look at the MVP selections from Sunday’s championship games. These players balled out all weekend but they elevated their game on Sunday and helped their team to a championship!
Abram Wardell Abram Wardell 6'0" | 190 lbs | QB Calvary Baptist | 2025 State LA – 2025 Quarterback – LA Bootleggers North
The Bootleggers North program had a really strong tournament this weekend and they’re headed back east with some hardware. 2025 quarterback Abram Wardell Abram Wardell 6'0" | 190 lbs | QB Calvary Baptist | 2025 State LA helped lead the Bootleggers to a close championship win over Texas TAP on Sunday afternoon. Wardell has absolute stars around him but he was the engine that made this offense go. He was incredibly accurate all weekend and that hit new heights during bracket play on Sunday. Wardell picked apart the defense throughout the title game and the one thing that impressed us was he spread the love. Just about everyone was involved with Wardell as the triggerman.
Jamal Polite Jr. – 2026 Athlete – CG3-CAT Takeover
CG3-CAT Takeover took home the 15U division title behind a steady performance from 2026 standout Jamal Polite Jr. out of Kileen, Texas. Shortly after the 14U team got it done in the title game, Polite helped lead his team to the 15U championship. He first got on our radar during Saturday’s pool play games and was one of the top performers during the morning and afternoon. He continued that dominant play into Sunday and walked away with MVP honors in the championship game. He was an absolute playmaker and every time we had our eyes on their game, it was usually him coming up with a play.
Jessiah James – 2028 Quarterback & Naythan Smith – 2028 Wide Receiver/Defensive Back – CG3-CAT Takeover
So it was a good thing that we had two MVP chains following the 14U championship game because we couldn’t make a pick of one over the other. Quarterback Jessiah James and wide receiver Naythan Smith were locked in all weekend and they were particularly dominant in the championship game on Sunday morning. Talking with another writer who was focused on the 14U division, he mentioned how these two had a connection that was obvious and you saw them go to it time and time again. Smith in particular was one of the better two-way players in the 14U division and James is a rising star at the quarterback position.
