His total was was over 20 receptions ahead of the next highest catch leader, Trevor Garlington Trevor Garlington 6'1" | 160 lbs | WR Blue Valley Northwest | 2025 State KS , Blue Valley North, who caught 57 passes for the year. Additionally, standing out in 6A was the Derby duo of Colton Ruedy Colton Ruedy 6'0" | 175 lbs | WR Derby | 2024 State KS and Da’saahn Brame, who combined for 100 receptions in leading Derby to a state runner-up season.
In addition to these stellar athletes there were several other 6A receivers who had excellent seasons.
Listed below are the top reception leaders in 6A for the 2023 season:
Crew Meyers, 5’11, 165, Blue Valley West, ’24 – was one of three 6A First Team All-State wide receivers on this list. He won the total reception race going away, catching 75 passes. He generated 1,027 yards for a 13.7 average on those receptions. He also added seven touchdowns, with the longest being a 50 yard touchdown.
Trevor Garlington Trevor Garlington 6'1" | 160 lbs | WR Blue Valley Northwest | 2025 State KS , 6’1, 145, Blue Valley North, ’25 – vaulted to the runner-up spot with 57 catches for 670 yards. The junior also averaged 11.8 yards per reception, and scored six touchdowns. His longest score of the year was 53 yards.
Colten Ruedy, 6′, 175, Derby, ’24 – was another First Team All-State receiver and part of the high-flying Derby passing attack. He ended up third in the state in receptions with 54. On those receptions he gained 958 yards for an excellent 17.7 yards per catch. He also added seven TD’s, the longest being a thrilling 93 yard touchdown.
Elijah Hakim Elijah Hakim 5'11" | 180 lbs | WR Olathe West | 2024 State KS , 5’11, 180, Olathe West, ’24 – was the third First Team All-State WR on this list and finished right on Ruedy’s tail with 50 receptions on the year. He gained 660 yards and averaged 13.2 yards per catch. He also reached the end zone 11 times, second best in 6A, with the longest being a 78 yard score.
Aiden Bruce Aiden Bruce 6'0" | 160 lbs | RB Olathe North | 2024 State KS , 5’11, 155, Olathe North, ’24 – was also close to the leaders with 48 receptions in 2023. The senior from Olathe gained 568 yards, averaging 11.8 yards per reception. Additionally, he scored three touchdowns, one of which was for 79 yards.
Da’saahn Brame, 6’6, 225, Derby, ’25 – was the other half of the dominating Derby passing attack and proved to be almost unstoppable at times. He finished with 46 catches for 942 yards and had one of the highest averaged yards per catch at 20.5 yards per reception. He was also tops in all of 6A with 13 TD receptions.

Jake Johnson Jake Johnson 5'11" | 155 lbs | WR Shawnee Mission South | 2024 State KS , 5’11, 145, Shawnee Mission South, ’24 – snagged 43 passes on the year for 518 yards. He averaged 12.1 yards per catch. He also scored four touchdowns, with a long of 58 yards; Grady Westphal Grady Westphal 6'3" | 170 lbs | WR Blue Valley | 2025 State KS , 6’3, 180, Blue Valley Stillwell, ’25 – hauled in 41 passes but made them count with 859 yards. He had one of the highest averaged yards per catch at 21.0 yards per, and scored two touchdowns.
