To conclude the offense, here’s my list of some explosive under the radar 2024 running backs in Kentucky.
rnAt the top of my list of notable performers is Brock Messer Brock Messer RB Martin County | 2024 State KY , a running back at Martin County High School. What impresses me about Messer is his breakaway speed and durable edge, showcasing his ability to stay on his feet in the pocket and utilize bursts of speed to take it all the way to the house. Another facet of Messer that stands out is his physical edge and ability to bully the defense off the snap, proving his ability to consistently boost ground production and force his team into enemy territory.

rnI am additionally impressed with Thomas Feickert Thomas Feickert 5’9″ | 180 lbs | RB Scott County | 2024 State KY , a running back at Scott County High School. In addition to his explosive quickness and catching ability, what makes Feickert so impactful is his ability to juke out the defense off the snap, blasting past the opposition from along the edge despite heavy pressure and limited running room. I also like Feickert’s ability to break tackles in the pocket and outlast the defense on the ground, showing off his ability to put points on the scoreboard with his shiftiness.

rnClaiming the number three spot on my list is Jimmy Sales Jimmy Sales 5’11” | 160 lbs | RB South Warren | 2024 State KY , a running back at South Warren High School. In addition to outstanding size and speed off the snap, what impresses me about Sales is his versatile edge, proving he can dodge and weave tackles in the pocket as well as slip past openings from along the edge to put his team into a strong field position. I also like Sales due to his footwork and ability to create seperation in the backfield, proving he can pull ahead of the defense and force his way into the endzone.

What impresses me the most about Richardson’s playstyle is his physical edge, his ability to consistently break tackles off the snap and his ability to dodge and weave the defense to march into the backfield. In addition to being a challenge to contain from along the edge, I like Richardson’s ability to lock in at the goal line, proving he can withstand heavy pressure and force his way to the house.

Sheppard stands out due to his physicality in the pocket as well as his breakaway speed, utilizing his size and strength to shake the defense and take it all the way into the endzone. Another aspect of Sheppard’s playstyle that impresses is his ability to read the defense, adapt to pressure and quickly find openings in the pocket to break free into the backfield.

rnAnother senior worth mentioning is Lukas Mullins Lukas Mullins 6’0″ | 200 lbs | RB Madison Southern | 2024 KY , a running back at Madison Southern High School. Mullins impresses me with his solid footwork and ability to maneuver the defense both inside and around the pocket. Mullins also contributes electric speed off the snap and durability under pressure, proving he can dodge and weave tackles, bully defenders with his arms and be untouchable by the opposition once he escapes the pocket and reaches the backfield.
