Alberta is a talent rich province that sends an abundance of players to the next level and this year is no different as some of the best players still have to make their commitments.
Cohen Wright (Ernest Manning Griffins) – QB
The first player we are going to highlight is the best quarterback out of Calgary for the class of 2024. Cohen Wright is listed at 6’1″ 195lbs, and runs the forty yard dash in 4.81s which gives him the physical tools to play at an above average level. Wright has the arm talent to make off platform throws as well as the ability to change his arm angle on any given play if he needs to. Wright also has very good arm strength to make every throw on the field at all three levels while also being able to change the velocity of the ball depending on what type of throw is required to complete the pass. He also has very good pocket awareness and shows the ability to climb the pocket as well as being able to relocate and reset the pocket instead of just taking off and running at the first sign of pressure. Wright is a great quarterback prospect who projects to be a starter at the FCS level at a minimum.
Benjamin Falkowsky (Ernest Manning Griffins) – WR
Based on the film that I have seen Benjamin Falkowsky is the best receiver in the province for the class of 2024 and it just so happens that he remains uncommitted. Coming in at 5’11” 175lbs, Falkowsky displays dynamic run after catch ability combining with an ability to win routes at the catch point on top of using his dynamic speed. He is also an elusive ball carrier thanks his herky jerky running style that makes it hard to get a clean tackle to bring him down. His biggest asset however is his field vision as a ball carrier as he tends to see lanes before they develop and he shows the willingness to run into the heart of a defense to get the tough yards that every offense requires. Falkowsky is also excellent at tracking the ball in the air on routes and in the return game. He was also the best return man in western Canada thanks to all of his dynamic traits. Falkowsky has offers from many CIS schools but I think he is someone who should play at the NCAA FCS level next year.
Caden Struth Caden Struth 6'4" | 250 lbs | DL Ernest Manning | 2024 State CAD (Ernest Manning Griffins) – OL/DL
Caden Struth Caden Struth 6'4" | 250 lbs | DL Ernest Manning | 2024 State CAD listed at 6’4″ 250lbs, gets the offensive and defensive line positional tag because he truly can be recruited at both positions. On the offensive line Struth projects to be a high level guard at the next level as he displayed an excellent feet for a guard as his pass set is very fluid and angled to what a high end offensive guard does combined with a very good ability to sink his hips to anchor in pass protection. Struth is also a dominant run blocker who displays his high end compete and strength to get downhill quickly on defensive lineman while also being able to push downhill to get to and block the second level linebackers. As a defensive line prospect Struth has the ability to play all across the defensive line in multiple fronts due to his strength, 5.22s forty yard dash speed and his high end compete. His motor and physical traits should have schools all over him as he truly does have massive starter potential at both sides of the ball at the next level. Even though he on has CIS offers it would not surprise me if he goes on and plays at a FCS level school just due to his massive potential.
Bishop Adeniyi Bishop Adeniyi 6'2" | 175 lbs | WR Bell buckle Tennessee the Webb | 2025 CAD (Harry Ainlay High School) – WR
Bishop Adeniyi Bishop Adeniyi 6'2" | 175 lbs | WR Bell buckle Tennessee the Webb | 2025 CAD has the highest ceiling out of any player on this list because he truly has the physical tools to be a star at the next level. Listed at 6’2″ 170lbs, Adeniyi has legit separating speed that is rare in Canada. Adeniyi is such a silky smooth and efficient runner that it looks like he is gliding out on the field. He uses his speed well as he can accelerate and decelerate faster than anyone on the field. He also has the ability run the entire route tree thanks to his ability to change speeds while also having the ability to get in and out of breaks quickly. Due to his great physical tools Adeniyi can line up all across the offense whether that be at the X,Z, or as a heavy motion player like he did during his senior season. Bishop Adeniyi Bishop Adeniyi 6'2" | 175 lbs | WR Bell buckle Tennessee the Webb | 2025 CAD with the right development (like adding size to his frame without losing speed) he can truly be a difference maker at the NCAA Division 1 level.
Cole Gist Cole Gist 5'10" | 170 lbs | DB Salisbury | 2024 State CAD (Salisbury Composite High School) – DB
Rounding out our list of the top uncommitted class of 2024 players is Cole Gist Cole Gist 5'10" | 170 lbs | DB Salisbury | 2024 State CAD who is the best defensive back from Alberta in the class. Listed at 5’10” 168lbs, Cole is an elite athlete as he runs the forty yard dash in 4.62s while also having a shuttle time of 4.36s but he also has a 36 inch vertical which helps make up for the fact that he is 5’10”. Gist can line up anywhere in a defensive backfield whether that be Corner or Safety. One of skills that allows him to line up both positions is the fact that he has a real tight, compact and smooth backpedal that allows him to cover any type of receiver in man coverage. He is also a very good zone coverage defender as he has a good ability to keep his zone while routes are coming in and out of his zone all the while Gist is following the eyes of the quarterback. Gist also has my favorite skill which is that he is a willing tackler in run support. Cole Gist Cole Gist 5'10" | 170 lbs | DB Salisbury | 2024 State CAD may not have ideal size but he has everything a Division 1 program would want in a defensive back on top of the fact that he will definitely get on the field no matter what school he goes to.
