Prep Redzone has all the details…
Jacari Barnett – Elbert County
He may be on the smaller side, but this small-town back out of Elbert County is a shifty, explosive runner and one of the top returning Single-A running backs returning for the 2024 season. He runs hard at 5-foot-10 175-pounds and eludes defenders with ease. He carved up defenses on a consistent basis last fall, rushing for an impressive 1,478 yards and 20 touchdowns in 13 games. This underrated back flashed impressive burst, vision, and has the ability to break away from defenders down the field. He reached the 100-yard mark 8 times last fall and scored a touchdown in every game but two. He’s not this powerful, bowling ball type of back, but he showed his durability throughout the season, scoring a combined 7 touchdowns in the ground over the final three games of the season. He’s flying under the radar and could be bound for a gigantic senior season in 2024. If he continues to add some muscle mass this off-season, Barnett could see some serious D1 interest come his way.
CJ Gray – Temple
An explosive, game-changing back out of West Georgia, Gray is a true speedster who can help make plays at both running back and in the return game on special teams. He hits the hole hard for a smaller back and does a good job of running tough between the tackles. A terrific overall athlete who can also catch passes out of the backfield, Gray carried the ball 142 times last season for 1,317 yards. He also caught eight passes for 140 receiving yards. In total, Gray scored 13 touchdowns while totaling 1,753 all purpose yards. He’s a natural runner who can change directions on a dime. He’s great in the open field and tough to corral and bring down by just one defender. He’s still flying under the radar from a recruiting standpoint, but the film says he has the ability to play somewhere at the next level. He’s one of the top running backs in all of West Georgia and the numbers back it up. He’s also one of the most productive Single-A runners coming back for the 2024 season.
A speedy, explosive runner who was one of the most productive backs across the Single-A classification this past fall, Brown’s speed, burst, and vision made him one of the top overall backs in South Georgia last season. He wasn’t asked to carry the load completely, but in a run-heavy offense, Brown’s presence was needed on a consistent basis throughout the season. Helping lead Swainsboro all the way back to the Single-A state championship, Brown ran for an impressive 1,042 yards and 15 touchdowns, sharing the carries with current Georgia Bulldog incoming freshman, Demello Jones Demello Jones 6'1" | 180 lbs | ATH Swainsboro | 2024 State GA . The Tigers ran wild on defenses just about every week during the 2024 season and Brown was a big reason why. He shows great burst, acceleration, and the ability to take off for a big gain whenever he has the ball. He’s easily one of the top returning Single-A running backs to know about next year.
