Prep Redzone Illinois caught up with the Simeon standout ahead of his decision to discuss his four finalists and what is appealing about each of them.
Alabama
“It’s just Alabama. Who wouldn’t want to be part of that great program. It’s an amazing football program. It’s everything you can ask for in a football program. Also my grandmother is from Birmingham. I have a lot of family in Alabama.”
Michigan
“Michigan that’s like my second home. My dad is from Michigan. Most of my family is from Michigan. I grew up loving Michigan football. I can be developed as a football player. Who can develop me the best at my position. They put a lot of d-lineman and edge rushers in the league as of lately.”
Ohio State
“Coach Larry Johnson is like a legend. He put Nick Bosa, Chase Young, and Joey Bosa those top picks in the league. It would be real inspirational to be coached by him. He really believes I’m the top edge in the country. He really wants to work with me. Coach Ryan Day things I’m a generational talent.”
Notre Dame
“Notre Dame that’s close to home. It’s like an hour away and they are promising to develop me the most as a player and person. They talk about life after football. My parents love that school. They love it there. Coach Al Washington and Coach Freeman said I’m their top priority.”
Burgess will announce his choice on NBC during the All-American Bowl this Saturday, January 6.
