Continue ReadingMy Twitter DMs continue to come in, and this week I am keeping up with my Twitter Film Analysis where I feature players who have reached out or followed me, as well as some that I notice getting attention on Twitter. I continue to be impressed with the players I watch and look forward to featuring more in the future.
Jackson Hamill
Jackson Hamill
Jackson has garnered some interest from schools but more need to take notice. He projects to play a hybrid safety role in college and has very good height and solid size for the position. He displays good athletic tools in terms of foot speed, change of direction, backpedal, foot quickness, acceleration, and hip fluidity. He is a tone-setter on the field showing an aggressive demeanor in his play and complete effort from snap to whistle. Very good processing and vision of the field, with a quick run/pass read and reaction to his assignment. Very good zone coverage processing, keeping his head on a swivel and reading the eyes of the QB to put himself in position to make a play on the ball with good ball skills and hands to make an interception. Good run support, with good use of hands to keep blockers off his body and can get skinny to evade blockers in the open field when coming high to low with very good tackling by wrapping the ball carrier and driving through him. Very good angles in the open field with the ability to track down runners who get past the third level. His senior season stat line shows his versatility and effort on the football field with his 60 tackles, 3 interceptions, 2 forced fumbles, 4 blocked kicks, 1 sack, 3 QB pressures, 2 pass breakups, and 6 total touchdowns. He also finished the season with 1st Team All-District, All-Area, and All-Region honors and was Honorable Mention All-State. Hudl / Twitter
Owen has good initial quickness off the snap with good use of hands to quickly engage offensive linemen and extend his arms to create separation and leverage. Very good point strength and anchor when engaged with an offensive lineman and does not lose ground while keeping his shoulders square to the line of scrimmage. Good versus the run, able to easily shed blocks due to the separation he creates, and will bring down the ball carrier in his gap. He is also an effective pass rusher with good closing speed on the QB that disrupts the timing of the QB in his set with the ability to finish with a sack. He is a player to watch as he enters his senior season.
Mason Hickman
Mason Hickman
Mason shows very good run/pass reaction with an understanding of his assignment to be in position to make a play. He is good versus the run with good point strength and can generate very good explosion in a single step to take on blockers, utilizing his hand placement to keep them off his chest to shed the block. He is a good tackler and a hard hitter. In pass coverage he makes his presence known to anyone who catches the ball across the middle by lowering his shoulder and knocking them off their feet. He plays with good competitive toughness and is a key piece to Gate City’s defense.
Hayden has good height and size as a TE. He is a good run blocker with good explosion and use of hands when engaging blocks and drives the defender out of the gap. He also is a receiving threat for Cosby’s offense as he is a solid route runner, with good acceleration and release into his route, and his size allows him to always be open. He displays good ball skills and can high point the catch and can adjust to throws in traffic to secure the catch. Also plays EDGE on defense, and he has good pass-rushing skills, causing distress to the QB with good finish to disrupt the play. He plays with very good physical toughness and does not shy from contact. Excited to see what the next two seasons hold for Hayden.
