The top player in the 2027 class coming out of NJ, Xavier Sabb Xavier Sabb 6’1″ | 180 lbs | ATH Glassboro | 2027 State NJ is an all-around athlete that will be garnishing a lot of attention very soon. The third freshman to be highlighted from Glassboro’s 2027 class, Xavier was deadly last season not only as a receiver but as a return man as well. Taking the ball to the endzone 2 times on the kickoff and 3 times as a punt returner, Xavier was a headache for all special team coordinators he faced as it was always difficult to close in on Xavier once the ball was in his hands. Xavier can truly stop on a dime and move in the opposite direction seamlessly.
As a receiver, he found the end zone 7 times and amassed 657 receiving yards. Being a long stride runner, Xavier had break away speed that made it impossible for any defender to try to catch him. The Sabb family is one of the most talented football families in the state.
Pennington’s Luca Saurman has the potential to be one of the top receivers coming out of NJ in 2027. Racking up 284 receiving yards and 2 touchdowns, Luca displayed impressive catching abilities as a freshman. Lucas does an incredible job tracking the ball over his shoulder and can make the contested catch look easy. This is a player we will all become more familiar with come next fall.
Highlights
Elizabeth has an absolute stud at the receiver position in Nahjae Smith Nahjae Smith 5’11” | 175 lbs | WR Elizabeth | 2027 State NJ . Scoring 1 touchdown and catching for 268 yards in 2023, Nahjee has the potential to be a lethal deep ball threat. He can really turn on the burners and leave the defender in the dusk any time he is deep downfield. Equipped with great size already, Nahjee will be boxing out defenders in the near future to make those pivotal catches in the corner of the end zone.
Delano Mann
Delano Mann
Bishop Eustace’s Delano Mann is another young receiver that got plenty of reps in his freshman season. Catching 2 touchdowns and 223 yards, Delano is an agile runner that uses his quick feet to run clean and crisp routes. A player that is known to lay out for the ball, Delano has great catch radius and hand eye coordination to reel it in. He went off against Gloucester Catholic in his first start of the season, where he scored both of his touchdowns and caught 167 yards.
Shaun Garland
Shaun Garland
The only tight end on this list, Shaun Garland is going to be a big time target for Edison in 2024. Catching for over 200 yards and a touchdown, Shaun’s longer reach allows him to outcompete the defender for the ball and bring the ball in from outside most receiver’s range. I foresee him playing a big role in the back of the end zone for years to come.
Shaun is not an easy player to bring to the ground. With the larger frame, he is able to run through weak tackles and keep trucking along.
