ONTARIO— Over the coming days, we will shift our focus from our time in Manitoba and will start in Ontario tonight. This Part I series starts in Windsor and Ottawa and tomorrow, you will see Part II dive into Toronto and continue shedding light on prospects across Ontario that deserve next level exposure. We also have a few prospects that I call my “offer now” category for the college coaches reading, as Windsor and Ottawa have two underclassmen that fit the narrative.
Windsor Area
Spencer Hyjek, LB/ATH, Sandwich Collegiate (2025) Twitter
Spencer shows the frame of a mack-truck at middle linebacker at 6’1 190 pounds, but looks way bigger on tape. He shows off a powerful downhill presence that just has premier instincts of where to go to get the best pursuit angle with a high level of physical contact you want out of your linebacker. He is tough as nails to tackle the offensive side of the ball too, and has excellent explosion thru contact to reach the open field with high-finished stamina speed that lasts. With two very early U-Sports offers, that should be a sign that this young man is one you want get after early as I can certainly see some FBS schools over the Michigan border catching waves of this young man soon.
CJ Marson, DL/OL, W.F. Herman Secondary (2024) Twitter
CJ shows off an athletic bend at 5’11 250 pounds that plays with a sound motor that carries some range around the football field. He also shows off a twitchy first step off the snap that seemed to pop with more agility than I saw from the top of his tape. He also shows off the quick and reactive inside vision you want out of your defensive tackle. He is a prospect two-way prospect in the trenches that my eyes see him tracking a higher grade at offensive guard, due to his balanced hands to drive block downhill to the second level and can also pull & punch laterally. 2-time All-City. From the looks of it, CJ looks like a hidden gem that U-Sports programs should look at this winter.
Ottawa Area
Joshua Ayrakwa Joshua Ayrakwa DB St. Theresa | 2024 State CAD , DB/WR, St. Mother Theresa (2024) Twitter
Joshua is a two-way prospect that just flat out has a outstanding burst off the start of his route that will make secondary coaches lose their mind once he gets over the top of the secondary at the second level. His physicality off the ball also really pops out on tape as an outside run-blocker, as one that you can tell packs a punch any chance he gets with plenty of authority which lays well for Joshua on both sides of the field. Another 2024 prospect that was All-City in 2023 but also a 2024 prospect that has surprisingly to me has just one offer. He is an “offer now” 2024 Ontario prospect in my eyes.
Jalen Flindall, WR, Ashbury College (2024) Twitter
Jalen shows off as a slot receiver that does a heck of a lot of his damage with his vision in the open field. The change of direction this kid has can certainly flip the field with the instinct he shows off. I also thought on tape that Jalen’s hands show out well with how quickly he gets his turns and advances up field quickly as he also shows off the fluidity of his route-running with that balance out well with his hands on multiple levels. He also shows off the vertical and athletic balance in the air you want along with a growing catch-radius. He is VERY under the radar in this 2024 class and is another “offer now” prospect out of Ottawa with no offers of note yet.
Cole Hamilton Cole Hamilton 6'4" | 205 lbs | LB St. Matthew | 2025 State CAD , LB, St. Matthew (2025) Twitter
You can quickly engage by watching Cole from his pre-snap movement that this young man has well versed instincts which start off early with his positioning to be a force into pass coverage. He also has impressive agility with his lateral movement getting downhill into the backfield and at 6’3 190 pounds it makes him more impressive. The consistency he shows off with that change of direction is also going to catch college recruiters eyes quickly. The football IQ Cole has is loaded and he plays very balanced between pass & run. I am quickly convinced that two of my favorite 2025 Canadian linebackers stick out on this one Ontario list tonight, with Spencer Hyjek and Cole Hamilton Cole Hamilton 6'4" | 205 lbs | LB St. Matthew | 2025 State CAD . Hamilton is another 2025 I would offer sooner rather than later as his length is going to pop out at the next-level.
