That wasn’t only a list of some elite football teams. That happened to be Ocala Trinity Catholic’s 2023 football schedule.
Before you make an appointment for head coach John Brantley to sit on a couch and talk with a professional, check out where that impressive schedule landed the Celtics this past season.
Playing for the 1S state title for the second straight season, this team fell just short against Sarasota Cardinal Mooney, 31-27, in the title game, and while some disagree with the schedule they played, this team landed where dozens and dozens of other football teams dreamed of being.
This team has now finished second in the state for two consecutive years, and while the loss was tough to take, you can fully expect the schedule to be just as challenging in 2024, and there are some key prospects waiting to get right back at it.
While there will be some new faces coming aboard in the off-season, the Celtics look to be in good hands with Class of 2025 rising seniors Aaron Doughman (OG), Gerrick Gordon Gerrick Gordon 6'4" | 270 lbs | OL Ocala Trinity Catholic | 2025 State FL (OG), Austin Holder (WR/OLB), Hampton Johnson (OL), Zach Johnson (DE), Davon Jones (WR) and standout receiver/kick returner Gerald Lawton III Gerald Lawton III 5'9" | 160 lbs | WR Vanguard | 2025 FL .
Also in the class will be Santino Luzarraga (WR), Ace Means (WR),
Luke Rudnianyn (LB), Sean Thornton (WR) and defensive end Travis Zimmerle-Virgil.
UNDERCLASSMEN ARE READY
As much experience as the team has coming back in the Class of 2025, keep your eye on the rising juniors in 2026.
Among those prospects to keep an eye on include Amani Armstrong (DE), Carlisle Cox (DE), James Pullings (WR) and cornerback Neff Reyes.
Even the rising sophomore (2027) class figures to impact this program with Wyatt Lucas (RB), Christian Neal (WR), Jamarion Robinson (DT) and receiver Jamari Thomas.
