Receivers against defensive backs, calling one another out in the name of competition and bragging right – even if for just one play.
At last Sunday’s Prep Redzone Stock Up Showcase in Fort Lauderdale – at Holiday Park – the objective was the same for the secondary performers: gain an advantage.
While several of the prospects came to learn some new technique, there were others who were out to show that they can win those battles, and if you know the defensive back talent in the Sunshine State, you fully comprehend what these three hours were all about.
With defensive backs and receiver going head-to-head, there was one player who stood out from the rest, and that was evident in the testing and throughout the competition.
Like several gifted football players who made their way from the Orlando area, Orlando Christian Prep 2025 standout Thomas Young Thomas Young 5'11" Orlando Christian Prep | 2025 FL , a 5-11, 175-pouder, wore the chain as the best at his position.
He was easily the best coverage player on hand, using his speed and football skills. You will need to keep your eye on him this coming season. You will hear his name plenty.

THERE WERE SOME OTHER PROSPECTS AS WELL
In addition to Young, the 2024 class also rolled out a pair of talented players in
Cameron Anderson and Lake Minneola’s Kushondrae Wright Kushondrae Wright 6'0" Lake Minneola | 2024 FL (6-1, 175).
WATCH FOR SOME FUTURE STARS
As Wright and the other 2024 and 2025 players did their thing, so did the underclassmen, who came to put themselves on the radar screen.
Two Class of 2026 players also made the event one that will propel them into the off-season.
Orlando Bishop Moore rising prospect Trenton Gummer (5-10, 160) and versatile Rylan Unruh Rylan Unruh 5'9" | 160 lbs | DB DeSoto County | 2026 FL (5-9, 160, Arcadia DeSoto) were singled out for what they each brought to the table during testing, drills and competition.
If you are looking for a few players to keep your eye on this off-season, 2027 rising sophomores Rodney Johnson Rodney Johnson 5'8" | 150 lbs | DB Trinity Christian Academy | 2027 FL (5-10, 155, Jacksonville Trinity Christian Academy) and Cameron McCants Cameron McCants 5'10" Miami Central | 2027 FL .
