Seiling quarterback Kaden Manuel Kaden Manuel 5'10" | 205 lbs | QB Seiling | 2024 State OK is this year’s pick for Prep Redzone Oklahoma 8-Man Player Of The Year. Manuel helped guide Seiling to the 2023 Class B state championship after falling short in the title game in 2022. Manuel and his teammates used that disappointment to drive them all season and Manuel ended his senior year by lifting the gold ball. In that state championship victory over Velma-Alma, Manuel put on a show. Looking back, it’s still one of the more impressive individual performances we covered during the 2023 season.
Manuel and the Wildcats beat Velma-Alma 48-16 to capture the 2023 Class B state championship. Manuel was an absolute monster that night. From the quarterback position, he was a one-man wrecking crew on the ground. He finished the night with over 350 yards on the ground and he scored all seven of Seiling’s touchdowns. And that was just a snapshot of the fantastic senior season that Manuel had in 2023.
In 8-man football, all it takes is one star to lead your team to new heights. We saw that with Laverne in 2022 and it happened again with Manuel and Seiling in 2023. And everyone who follows 8-man football knows, that scoreboard can get lit up quite a bit and some of the stats are out of this world impressive. And that goes for Manuel in 2023.
On the season, Manuel threw for just over 1,700 yards and 23 touchdowns on 117-188 passing. And just like in the state championship game, Manuel was a beast on the ground. He had 199 carries for 2,074 yards and 44 touchdowns. The Seiling senior also started on defense at linebacker and finished with just over 100 tackles and nearly 40 tackles for loss and 11 sacks. He also scored two touchdowns on defense with interception returns. Needless to say, Manuel was the runaway winner of this award and he also earned All State First Team honors.
Manuel and the Wildcats completed the perfect season with a 15-0 record. The majority of their wins were blowouts. They were tested a few times but passed and finished off the unbeaten season. Manuel was not only the best player in 8-man football this season but he was one of the best players in the state, regardless of classification. It was clear that Manuel and the Wildcats were on a mission in 2023 and it’s safe to say that the mission is now complete.
