Zyre Colar Zyre Colar 5'9" | 160 lbs | DB Jeanerette | 2025 State LA — 5-9, 150 DB — Jeanerette (2025)
The junior earned all-state honors this fall for his major role in the resurgent Tigers’ first quarterfinal run since 1990. Colar snatched six interceptions and broke up another 15 passes with his anticipation and burst that should make him a playmaker to watch on the 7-on-7 circuit as well.
Derrick Collins Derrick Collins 5'10" | 165 lbs | DB Southside | 2025 State LA — 5-10, 165 DB — Southside (2025)
Collins earned all-district honors for his Sharks this fall as a versatile defensive back with a nose for the ball and big plays from interceptions and pass breakups to forced fumbles, recoveries and tackles for loss, regardless of where he lined up on the field.
Gavin Duplechin Gavin Duplechin 6'1" | 180 lbs | DB St. Thomas More | 2025 State LA — 6-1, 180 DB — St. Thomas More (2025)
The Cougars turned to several less-experienced players to take on bigger roles on their defense this fall, and Duplechin — a versatile potential corner or safety — was among the top playmakers who helped the team win its second straight state championship with his nose for the big takeaways in the secondary.
Floyd Flugence Floyd Flugence 6'0" | 195 lbs | WR Crowley | 2025 State LA — 6-0, 195 WR — Crowley (2025)
The Gents’ multisport standout is one of the bigger, more physical targets on the roster with the ability to make tough, contested catches — whether going up over defenders or making the receptions through contact — and good vertical speed.
Landon Hammond Landon Hammond 6'2" | 160 lbs | DB Opelousas | 2025 State LA — 6-1, 155 DB — Opelousas (2025)
Hammond wrapped up 2023 as a member of his school’s first-ever state championship and kicked off 2024 with his first Power Five offer from Arizona State. The Sun Devils won’t likely be the last big offer for the long, speedy and potentially versatile defensive back as he takes his high-end speed and ball skills on the road this spring and summer.
Korey Malone Korey Malone 5'11" | 165 lbs | WR Rayne | 2025 State LA — 5-11, 165 WR — Rayne (2025)
One of a couple notable skill guys to watch in the Wolves’ rising senior class, Malone looks smooth on film working primarily out of the slot and gliding past defensive backs, then tracking the ball well for catches out away from his body.
Braylon Noel Braylon Noel 5'10" | 160 lbs | DB Acadiana | 2025 State LA — 5-10, 160 DB — Acadiana (2025)
One of the top defensive backs on a Wreckin’ Rams team that made a run back to a state championship game on the strength of its defense and rushing attack, Noel is a versatile athlete in the secondary capable of playing corner or safety.
