Luke Brewer Luke Brewer 6’0″ | 170 lbs | LB Ragland | 2027 State AL is a seriously talented inside linebacker for Ragland that had a standout freshman year last fall. Brewer was one of the top tacklers in the state this season and has a knack for finding and making plays on the ball. Last year Brewer had a huge season, totaling up 146 tackles (6 of which were for loss), one sack and a forced fumble. When watching him play its evident he has some exceptional instincts, play recognition, and versatility against both the run and pass. He can easily read plays and attack the ball both in the open field and behind the line of scrimmage- it’s impressive how well rounded as a line backer he already is at a young age. Keep an eye on him going forward, after his debut season it is clear that he has a bright future as a key player on Ragland’s defense.
Landon Achorn Landon Achorn 5’9″ | 175 lbs | DB Elberta | 2027 State AL is a ball-hawking defensive back for Elberta that had a standout first year where he made a bunch of huge contributions in their secondary. Achorn’s exceptional skills in coverage combined with his ability to make impactful tackles make him a key player on their defense that will never stop getting after the ball, no matter if its a run of pass. Achorn’s playmaking abilities were on full display throughout the season and could be seen with his 30 tackles (one for loss), 4 interceptions, 15 pass breakups, and one fumble recovery in just 8 games. Achorn has a knack for reading and reacting to the opposing offense when he’s in coverage, which in turn allows him to constantly intercept/jar the ball free. Over just 8 games anyone could see that Achorn has a load of talent, it’ll be exciting to see him turn up in year two!
Trenton McCorvey Trenton McCorvey 6’0″ | 175 lbs | LB Thompson | 2027 State AL is a freshman linebacker for Thompson High School that made some impressive plays in a challenging 7A division. McCorvey was able to step in and contribute immediately as a freshman- he has some high athleticism and impressive speed that allows him to fly around the field to make tackles. This could be seen of course with his 46 total tackles (4 of which were for loss), one sack, and one fumble recovery. McCorvey’s presence on the defensive side of the ball poses a significant challenge for opposing offenses, especially when it comes to teams trying to run the ball. In one of the top divisions in the entire state, Trenton McCorvey Trenton McCorvey 6’0″ | 175 lbs | LB Thompson | 2027 State AL is seeing some early success that will only continue to snowball as he plays more next fall!
Kymani Williams Kymani Williams 6’0″ | 165 lbs | DB Ramsay | 2027 State AL is a highly athletic prospect for Ramsay that made a lot of plays as a defensive back this year. Williams has a rare skill set and playstyle that really utilizes his impressive size, speed, and football IQ, Williams stands out as a dynamic force on the defensive side of the ball that has a lot of athleticism enables him to make a ton of plays against opposing offenses, whether it be in coverage or against the run. It’s also clear that Williams has a natural understanding of the game, and that paired with his physical attributes makes him as a really valuable asset for Ramsay’s defense. With how much of an impact he already made on a really good Ramsay defense, Williams is undoubtedly a key figure to watch in the upcoming season!
Landon Archer Landon Archer 6’1″ | DB Vincent | 2027 State AL is a standout defensive back for Vincent that had an outstanding season last year. Archer was elite against the pass and it was super evident with his ability make big time plays, create turnovers and provide lockdown coverage. Over the course of last fall, Archer recorded 23 total tackles, 3 interceptions, 5 pass breakups, and one forced fumble. With how quickly he is able to react to the ball, Archer is able to make plays all over the field no matter where he initially lined up. He has the size and coverage abilities to be a really reliable man-to-man corner and also doesn’t shy away from getting physical against the run game either. Archer’s performances last fall marks him as an early top DB in the states 2027 class, keep track of him as he continues to develop- he’s got some talent!
