Naturally, there’s plenty of movement up and down before we ever add a single new name to the list. Below, we identified 14 who earned every bit of a bump from their performances throughout the 2023 season.
That’s only part of the good news. The rest is that they still have another year to impress South Carolina football fans and the unaffiliated alike.

NOTABLE RISERS
Andon Hawkins Andon Hawkins 5'7" | 205 lbs | LB Midland Valley | 2025 State SC LB, Midland Valley (Up 11 spots)
Hawkins (5-foot-7, 212 pounds) is a fierce competitor who is always around the ball. The middle linebacker finished with 187 tackles and 18 tackles for loss in 2023.
Zion Gilbert Zion Gilbert 6'0" | 195 lbs | RB South Florence | 2025 State SC RB, South Florence (Up 17 spots)
Gilbert is every bit of 5-foot-11 and 190 pounds and that uptick in size from his sophomore season (at Carolina Forest) to his junior year at South Florence allowed him to sustain a huge work load.
Jamarion Fling Jamarion Fling 5'8" | 160 lbs | RB Dillon | 2025 State SC RB, Dillon (Up 24 spots)
Dillon’s grind-it-out scheme relied upon a tailback who could handle it, and Fling made sure that wasn’t an issue. In 10 games, he had 191 carries for 1,584 yards (8.3 ypc) and 34 touchdowns.
Jaden Cummings Jaden Cummings 5'11" | 195 lbs | QB Summerville | 2025 State SC QB, Summerville (Up 32 spots)
Cummings’ numbers in 2023 were brilliant. He completed 68.4 percent of his passes for 2,998 yards and 32 touchdowns. He threw only four picks all season in 247 attempts. His four rushing touchdowns were icing on the cake.
Jackson Repp Jackson Repp 5'8" | 160 lbs | WR Christ Church | 2025 State SC WR, Christ Church (Up 44 spots)
A week after capping off his state championship season with 1,510 receiving yards and 27 touchdowns, the 5-foot-8, 152-pound Repp showed up to the Joanne Langfitt Challenge and hit 22.817 miles per hour.
Josh Smith Josh Smith 6'2" | 220 lbs | DL Dutch Fork | 2025 State SC DL, Dutch Fork (Up 70 spots)
At 6-foot-2 and 210 pounds, Smith piled up 15 tackles for loss and six sacks for Dutch Fork. A huge chunk of that production came during the playoffs, when the Silver Foxes reigned supreme again.
BIGGEST MOVERS BY POSITION
Max Moorman Max Moorman 6'3" | 200 lbs | LB Oceanside Collegiate | 2025 State SC LB, Oceanside Collegiate (Up 17 spots)
State champion linebacker was part of a dynamic unit in the middle of the Landsharks defense. He finished with 97 total tackles, 12 sacks, eight pass break-ups and 14 quarterback hurries.
Zeke Marshall Zeke Marshall 6'3" | 175 lbs | DB Westside | 2025 State SC DB, Westside (Up 17 spots)
No reason to start with anything other than the obvious. Marshall picked off nine passes. Nine. That’s not normal. Marshall, like Moorman, played a huge role in a state championship.
Jaquavious Dodd Jaquavious Dodd 6'6" | 220 lbs | DL Eastside | 2025 State SC DL, Eastside (Up 79 spots)
Now measuring a cool 6-foot-6 and 220 pounds (measured during Langfitt), Dodd is a match-up nightmare at this level, something he proved with 24 tackles for loss and 13 sacks during his junior season.
Landon Stone Landon Stone 6'0" | 200 lbs | RB Clover | 2025 State SC RB, Clover (Up 25 spots)
In total, 10 tailbacks in the state rushed for 2,000 yards last fall. Stone was one of them, as he averaged 8.6 yards per carry en route to 2,107 yards, some 1,800 more than he had a season ago.
Tucker Hendrix Tucker Hendrix 6'1" | 170 lbs | QB Christ Church | 2025 State SC QB, Christ Church (Up 72 spots)
While the 6-foot, 150-pound Hendrix isn’t necessarily jumping off a lot of charts right now, winning doesn’t lie. Nor do the 2,800 passing yards or 43 touchdowns he put up during another Christ Church title run.
Malik Clark Malik Clark 6'2" | 180 lbs | WR Rock Hill | 2025 State SC WR, Rock Hill (Up 71 spots)
Clark’s recent recruiting haul was of little surprise. Those who watched him this year saw a potential big-time star in the making, and not simply because of who his quarterback was. Clark certainly will have the opportunity to play on a huge college stage.
NEW TO THE TOP FIVE
Marquise Henderson Marquise Henderson 5'10" | 170 lbs | RB Belton-Honea Path | 2025 State SC and AJ Brand AJ Brand 6'2" | 185 lbs | QB Irmo | 2025 State SC just had those types of years that exceeded even their lofty preseason expectations.
Brand led Irmo to a 13-0 start and a berth in the Class 4A Lower State championship game by throwing for 2,932 yards and 45 touchdowns while rushing for another 1113 yards and 17 scores. Brand had plenty of weapons surrounding him, but more often than not he orchestrated it all to near perfection. It was all worth an 11-spot jump to No. 4 in the class.
Henderson (pictured), the Belton-Honea Path tailback, put one heck of a bow on his huge junior season when he verbally committed to Clemson in mid-December. By that point, he’d added a 2,336-yard, 37-touchdown campaign to his high school resume. He’ll enter his senior season with just shy of 4,500 career rushing yards and 67 total touchdowns, and – barring something crazy this offseason – Prep RedZone South Carolina’s top overall ranking in the Class of 2025.
